Rangers Prospects That Are Signed

Rangers Prospects that are signed:

Nigel Dawes
Ivan Baranka

What prospects need to be sign by this year or they will be free agents if any?

Rangers should sign Nate Guenin and Joey Crabb this summer. Guenin is 22 and Crabb is 21. They should be in Charlotte or Hartford. Same with Marcus Jonasen.

The Rangers can't sign anyone until a new CBA is signed. There is a roster freeze.

And it was only a try-out deal. Every prospect that doesn't already have a contract with the Rangers is in limbo.

Yea I know. Too bad he did not play in Charlotte or Hartford this year instead of juniors. At least he will be in Charlotte or Hartford next year.

NYR469 05-18-2005 07:03 PM

baranka and dawes were signed BEFORE the lockout, no one can be signed right now. anyone that signs would have to sign an ahl deal with hartford

and baranka will be in hartford next year guaranteed...rangers already told everett that he won't be back next year

marcus jonasen must be signed or he'll head back to europe...and rick kozak must be signed or we'll lose his rights. those are the only 2 that have to be signed, everyone can be left in juniors/college/europe if needed

RangerBoy 05-22-2005 01:01 PM

Nigel Dawes and Ivan Baranka signed under the previous CBA so they are considered signed players with three year entry level contracts

Taz 05-22-2005 01:08 PM

i like Kozak he seems to be a phycho and has been putting up points

Given the history of the Rangers you'll probably be on the fourth line behind Gordie Howe, Messier, and Ulf Sammulsen.

Marcus JonasÚn has surprisingly signed a contract (1 year) with the swedish team Almtuna who will play in Tier II.

Is that a good thing or bad thing for the Rangers??? Any Rangers source on this??? Are the Rangers going to sign him or let him go to europe like many of their european prospects during the past few years?? He is a LW and has size and a bit of skill. I hope we sign him.

Its better then signing with most div. 1 teams. I don't think he was ready for the AHL anyway.

Whats tragical for Swedish hockey is that there isn't room for a guy like Jonasen in the SEL. The braindead guy who is in charge of Swedish hockey needs to get his head out of his a-s-s and put a restriction on forign players in the SEL and expand the league with 2 more teams. Like it is today entire generations are lost. I doubt there will be more then 10 players in the SEL 21 y/o or younger next season. There are some really strong teams playing in the 2nd tier league right now. Every year the worst two teams in the SEL plays a qualification league with the top 4 teams from the 2nd tier league. Its a econmical disaster for a team to be relegated. They have to shrink their budget with 95% over a summer to survive. Usually their is quit a diffrence between the SEL teams and 2nd tier teams. But not the last couple of years. Therefor teams are really afraid of rebuilding. They never gamble on young players and bring in established Finnish players instead.
