Devils and Andrei Loktionov have agreed on a new contract. Lou Lamoriello: "He's not going to Russia. He's staying in New Jersey."

Bleedred 06-04-2013 02:44 PM

I thought it was just 99% sure he will re sign, but not official yet?

Close enough lol

His Agent saying he will be 99% back is basically official isnt it ?

Devils731 06-04-2013 02:45 PM

Makes sense it's only a 1 year deal. If things don't work out this season he probably would like to go to the KHL after.

Cowbell232 06-04-2013 02:46 PM

It's to sign a deal... Not actually signed yet. Interesting. Would like to have seen a little longer deal, but good move.

Oh, Sorry. You could change the title

Good move. If he struggles, and proves this year was a fluke, no big deal. If he plays well then he will get a new contract but he will still be a RFA

Bleedred 06-04-2013 02:48 PM

I think the one year deal is probably for the fact that he hasn't played a whole NHL season yet, and they didn't wanna give him a one way deal for multi years just yet. That's just what I'm thinking personally.

It could also be a really cheap deal, and they're gonna give him a year to play a full season before giving him a more significant raise than what he had on his entry level contract.

Yep, Lou wants to be sure the year wasnt a fluke

NJD1982 06-04-2013 02:49 PM

Makes sense he wanted a 1 year, probably a slight pay raise. If he plays well again next year he should expect a longer contract with more money.

Devils Trap 06-04-2013 02:50 PM

Why does Lou make all moves or announcements on Tuesdays ???

CerebralGenesis 06-04-2013 02:51 PM

Not technically a Lou announcement though right?

Larionov is now considered an information leak. Contract cancelled and Loktionov sent to the echl.

SteveCangialosi123 06-04-2013 02:56 PM

Very happy he's back, but 1 year deal? I would've thought he'd sign for more. I guess it's smarter for him to get a 1 year deal and then hopefully a big raise.

Zajacs Bowl Cut 06-04-2013 02:57 PM

if it really is 1 year, he's still gonna be RFA after next season I believe so its not that big of a risk

Richer's Ghost 06-04-2013 02:59 PM

glad he's staying. Could be the start of something wonderful.

CNS 06-04-2013 03:03 PM

Thank god he's staying in the NHL. He wants to be here and hopefully he can make it in NJ since LA never gave him a ****ing shot.

He was very good last season in his short stint.

Indeed he was, and a good low risk signing to make sure there was no fluke. Hopefully this is the start of many resignings!!!

I know. He was the sole reason I watched Devils games. He's my favorite player. :)

Also, a bit more added info from DChesnekov:

Quote:

Larionov on Loktionov's new contract with the #NJD: "I spoke with New Jersey Devils General Manager Lou Lamoriello. We agreed to a new one year contract for Loktionov. I have just sent a text message to Andrei. I am waiting for his answer. The probabily of the signing is 99%." (ITAR-TASS)

We really like him. Advertised as a playmaker, but has a really good shot. I don't think anybody on the team this year other than Kovalchuk really had the shot he did. Maybe Clarkson a couple times early in the season. Or Zajac once in a very long while.

Status Quo* 06-04-2013 03:10 PM

Hopefully he only gets better. Kid showed a lot of promise when he came here. Stoked to see what he can do.

day1devilsfan 06-04-2013 03:11 PM

I like this! Loki was a great pick up and a joy to watch! Just need one more Russian to Loki & Kovy

Exactly. In fact it ain't a Lou announcement at all.

devlzfan 06-04-2013 03:15 PM

I bet the agent threatened he would go back to the KHL, so I bet the 1-year deal is a one-way for $900,000.
