Liles-TOR
Ballard-VAN
Ward-WASH

Was Savard on LTIR or active roster this past season? If he was LTIR'd, isn't there a stipulation saying you can't buy them out?

Also, I think Toronto would just stomach Komisarek for one more year vs wasting a compliance buyout on him. That or retain a million and send him to a cap floor team (cap hit is higher than payout).

BigDaddyLurch 06-10-2013 09:58 AM

If Tampa buys out Vinny, the Habs should look to deal Desharnais and grab Vinny on the cheap-o :)

WTFMAN99 06-10-2013 09:59 AM

I don't think Tampa cap situation or their lack of a need for a centre will put them in the hunt for richards. Dallas is a possibility. I could see Toronto swinging back around for richards at a better price

A player has to be healthy to be bought out, so you can cross off Savard. If he retires, he loses his contract, so it's not likely he will officially retire. The same can be said for Ohlund.

As far as the rest - I doubt Phoenix wants anything to do with Bryzgalov. I have no idea why Briere would consent willingly to go to Nashville unless they wildly overpay him.

Was just coming to post this.

Only options with Ohlund are to hope he retires or pay him to sit on LTIR.

Bryz may end up signing with Leafs. Leafs need a vet who can still play.

Komi will end up in Carolina

Richards, Devils

btallett 06-10-2013 10:31 AM

Kaberle will be bought out this summer , dont know whos going to want him though lol

Even if Vinny is boughtout he still wont come cheap at least $5.0m a year over 4 years i could see him playing in Montreal as he has said in the past that if he left Tampa Bay that he would only want to play in his hometown of Montreal but i dont see that happening this year but maybe next year.

I don't think Buffalo buys out Leino. They're retooling this season - with all the ELCs they may have on the roster, they'll be well under the cap. I think they give Leino 1 more year to pan out, they really have nothing to lose with doing that at this point.

I'm sure someone will sign him to a reasonable deal

sk84fun_dc 06-10-2013 10:38 AM

From my perspective, Jeff Schultz is the more likely compliance buyout candidate this summer for the Washington Capitals; yes, I know two are allowed total, just think even for speculation purposes, I'd list Schultz not Ward.

Puhis 06-10-2013 10:42 AM

Dany Heatley is quite likely to be bought out. As for who wants him, I have no idea. Florida?

Didn't he have surgery just a month or so back? If so, doesn't that prohibit him from being bought out? (Unless he passes a medical exam)

Nah, I don't think so. Even thou he had a terrible year, he's still an okay-ish backup and the ownership isn't known to throw money away.

Kuba on the other hand, I doubt it, but IMO more likely would be to trade him for a similar struggling forward with a year left.

Upshall, he's still an okay-ish 3rd liner, most of the teams just don't want him at 3.5 per year. Maybe someone will be interested if FLA would retain something around 1-1.5 of his salary.

Savard has one of his "big money" years left after this one, I'd guess he retires after that one in 2014 July.

Czech league bound IMO.

I thought he was injured and couldn't be bought out?

And no, I don't think FLA has interest.

tucker3434 06-10-2013 10:54 AM

David jones won't be bought out this offseason. The avs have a good bit of cap room. He'll get one more year to bounce back. If he puts up a 20-30 point year, hell be gone next season.

KeziaTML 06-10-2013 10:55 AM

Why on Earth would we buy out Liles?

I'm thinking Leino and Bryz will wind up in the KHL (I think Ville's game would translate better there

Komi will land somewhere. If he's willing to accept a sub-1M contract as a physical 6-7D he'll have plenty of suitors

Liles and Vinny i think could be traded rather than bought out. Below-market value of course, but they are still useful enough that a team may bite at the salary if they can pick them up on the cheap

Agree with the OP on Savard and Cole....Cole only seems to be effective in Carolina, it's a bit bizarro :shakehead

As long as Savard is injured, he won't retire. Why would he?

oconnor9sean 06-10-2013 11:16 AM

I really hope Richards comes back to Dallas. He's just what we need, and there won't be pressure on him like in New York. I could easily see him putting up 65-80 points with Benn on his wing and a change of scenery helping him.

The Podium 06-10-2013 11:17 AM

Komisarek will likely be stomached rather than bought-out

Likes likely has enough value to be traded rather than bought out. still a solid player and at 3.875 he can still be worth it for anyone looking for a top 4 PMD. The reason leaf fans want him gone is because we have Phaneuf, Gardiner and Franson as our offensive D.

Toronto would likely be interested in Briere, Richards or Bryz if they come cheap.

The original purpose of that contract, or any frontloaded contract for that matter, is that the player retires before the end of the contract when those smaller salary years kick in. Savard's three last years are 1.5, 575k and 575k, after next season's 5.

IMO the same will happen with Pronger in 2015. They both have a valid reason to retire and their teams wouldn't be punished by the new CBA.

edit: Except I just recalled that Pronger's deal is +35, so nvm. He won't retire.
