Michael Neuvirth

25 years Old proven Goalie in NHL, signed a two year $2.5 million dollar per year contract, obviously not Washington Capitals number one goalie, but surely he is a starting goalie in NHL, So what will your team give up for him?

penguins2946* 06-12-2013 07:51 PM

If the Pens were to trade Fleury 1st, I'd offer Sutter and a pick for Neuvirth. Run with the Vokoun-Neuvirth tandem for next year.

Col offers 2014 1st and 2nd?

OT OEL 06-12-2013 08:03 PM

Phoenix wants him make it happen

2014 ;)

but if the rumours are true, PHI may have some interest

tucker3434 06-12-2013 08:37 PM

Kidding anyway. Don't think well be giving the exact same package for another wsh backup.

tsujimoto74 06-12-2013 08:45 PM

What would Washington be looking for? If Miller is moved, I wouldn't mind seeing Buffalo add him to compete with Enroth for starts.

Personally I think a 2nd + 3rd would be enough to get him out of WAS

Sutter as in Brandon Sutter? Caps take that and Run. I'm a Neuvirth fan and I'll drive him to the airport

Not for just Neuvirth, we need that pick to score goals for us, maybe as early as October 2013.

He's never ever proven to be a starter. He's worth a second rounder

IPreferPi 06-12-2013 09:18 PM

Already discussed a Vermette + Klesla for Johansson + Neuvirth trade before with Caps fans, but that can be reduced to Klesla for Neuvirth if necessary.

What makes him proven ? If he was so good the market would be great for him but its not, value is little at best.

Nope. Varly with all the injuries had less value. The fact that Philly gave away Bob for free doesn't mean much. Man, either Ben Bishop returned way more.

danishh 06-13-2013 04:35 AM

in terms of "pure pick value", i think he's worth a 2nd.

calling him a "proven goalie" is a misnomer. So far, he's proven he's not a starter, but better than a backup.

txpd 06-13-2013 08:58 AM

it should be said that the caps wouldn't have extended him had trading him been in their plans.

he's proven in that he was a starting goaltender and won a playoff series. as a pro he is something like 9-1 in playoff series. that he hasn't proven to be better than holtby only suggests he is Washington's halak.

just the same....he's not on the trade block and all this is wasted energy

His proposal was a joke based on the Varlamov trade.

Picks or high-upside prospects (center/defense preferred). The point would be to clear salary to make room for a Ribeiro (or other 2C) contract, or a 2LD contract if that fails.

Alternatively, Neuvirth could be used as part of a package for a 2C or 2LD.

Still not a fan of the Vermette + Klesla for MoJo + Noovy, but would be on board with the latter proposal.

Not sure about that. There have been some reports suggesting that the Caps resigned Neuvirth specifically to trade him, because they were able to get him to sign a trade-friendly deal. Whether it's right or not, Holtby is the guy in D.C., and if they can get something of value for Neuvirth, they likely will do so.

(If they can sweeten an offer by tossing in Schultz, that would be gravy...)

Not just no, but h-ll No. We already have a 3rd line center thank you very much, plus a limited cap space. And we are not giving up Johansson for two veterans for one of our budding top six forward unless one of them is actually a better top 6 forward, than again our GM gave up Forsberg for a below average top six, with a giant salary cap hit, and whom was injured for pretty much the remainder of the season and offseason, and an average prospect, so you never know.

You're kinda late to this conversation, ya know? :-) If Schultz is moved/bought out and you guys don't resign Ribiero, you can certainly afford both of them. And as for now, Vermette >>> Perreault in just about every facet and could put up even better numbers with better wingers.

Anyways, it's a deal that's been previously discussed and has been received well for the most part by both Yotes and Caps HFers. (http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh....php?t=1434585) Since the Forsberg trade, this type of move involving Johansson is certainly possible.

GRob83 06-21-2013 11:44 AM

Calgary will have a ton of cap space especially if they buy out kiprusoff and accommodate cammalleris trade request. Maybe a mini-blockbuster deal to get Calgary a new #1 goalie and give Washington some extra cap space to re-sign ribeiro.

Calgary gets:
Michael Neuvirth
Martin Etat
Brooks Laich
Jeff Schultz
Jason Chimera

Washington gets:
Mike Cammalleri
Jiri Hudler
Curtis Glencross
To keep Ribeiro
