All-Purpose Jonathan Bernier Thread (All Bernier Talk here)

On Insider Trading, Pierre LeBrun says Los Angeles' offseason plan is to trade Jonathan Bernier and they have already reached out to as many as 10 teams about interest in Bernier. He figures a deal will be done, possibly even before the draft.

I'd still take him in Toronto, albeit not for much. I love Riemer but another young goalie would give us a decent 1-2 punch, both of them can push for the starting position.

I propose:

Ben Scrivens + Josh Leivo + 2014 2nd

AngelDuck 06-14-2013 04:52 PM

LAK needs a LW, correct?

etherialone 06-14-2013 04:52 PM

There is and has been a very strong rumor that there is a potential deal that has been being considered since the last GM meetings and that DL is looking around to see if he can better it before pulling the trigger.

JB being shopped to be moved shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. PL is just stating what everyone has known for awhile now.

jigglysquishy 06-14-2013 04:52 PM

I'd take him in Winnipeg in a heartbeat.

Philly and NJ should really be in on this, especially NJ. At some point you have to have a solution in the net for when Brodeur retires.

Any idea what a realistic price would look like? Jets should be looking at bringing in a 1B goalie to compete with Pavelec. If LA is looking for full value for him I'd imagine we'd look elsewhere.

Are they looking for anything more than a 2nd rounder for him?

A 2nd rounder? You're kidding, right? Bernier's a good goalie, he's just stuck behind Quick. They're going to want value for him.

I had heard that it was indeed the Devils that had made this proposal but that the Fliers had made a similarly valued deal the day before. For what it is worth. I agree that the Devils would make a great fit for JB from both the Devils and JB's position. With the Kings needs being a top 6 LW it seems like it will be a tough thing for the Devils to be able to do but nothing is impossible.

I am guessing somewhere between Varlamov(1st and 2nd) and Bobrovsky(2nd and two 4ths)

Right. A young LW with top 6 potential would be perfect.

Yeah because a 2nd rounder is not low value at all for a possible 1st goalie..

Islanderfan17 06-14-2013 04:59 PM

I fully expect Garth Snow to pursue him aggressively. We have the assets to move, don't see any reason why we can't get it done.

We're good.

Florida, NYI, Buffalo (if they trade Miller), and Winnipeg are all places i could see him going.

No thanks because of him.

I'd move Biggs or Frattin before of him, But I do like Bernier.

Devils Trap 06-14-2013 05:05 PM

No Thanks
