What would it take to get 1st overall?

What are the Colorado avalanches biggest needs if they were to trade the 1st overall?

UncleRisto 06-19-2013 11:20 AM

IMO it would take a top-4 pick. I don't see the Avalanche wanting to move out of the top-4.

InfinityIggy 06-19-2013 11:21 AM

More than:

Baertschi + 6th + 22nd + 28th according to Avs fans.

let's see, the Avs turned down Calgary's offer of the 6th, 22nd and 28th, and then it was reported that the Avs don't want to deal with Feaster however asked for a young nhl ready player that would be considered part of the Avs core ie Baertschi/Brodie...

This is all originating from the media, not Avs fans, however I do agree with probably all Avs fans that the 3 picks alone are not enough to get you the 1st overall pick

What are col main needs? I can see us moving up offering the 4th+ just trying to see the needs so can make up that +

Upgrades at wing and D. Preferably top line.

Several Avs fans rejected that very proposal.

Crede777 06-19-2013 11:42 AM

It would take trading into a pick #2-4 and then packaging that pick with a good prospect.

Groucho 06-19-2013 11:46 AM

Well, if you asked Jiggy, the Avs are really missing that "give a ****" thing

If you could trade them some care they should be competitive. They have great C depth, they could probably use a few top 6 wingers, maybe some bottom 4 D pieces as well? But who isn't looking for those things...

Monolithic 06-19-2013 12:32 PM

-Top 6 W (preferably LW)
-Top 4 LHD (preferably top pairing)

These are immediate needs. Taking either Drouin or Jones takes care of one of these. A year from now the center position could become a need if Stastny and O'Reilly are no longer on the team. So taking MacKinnon first overall would solidify a 1C + 2C tandem with Duchene for years to come and allow the team to explore filling the other needs via trade (Stastny & O'Reilly) or FA.

Predsrule 06-19-2013 12:53 PM

would #4 + Gabriel Bourque/Taylor Beck (both already played at a top 6 LW beck had time on our first line) + Blum/Ellis/Ekholm get the convo started. to me there the best offer for col as they already have an ellis type is 4+Beck + Ekholm..

KJS14 06-19-2013 12:58 PM

In my opinion Nashville would be better off dealing with Florida. I think Florida would be open to taking Barkov if it meant they got a good D prospect in return.

1972 06-19-2013 01:07 PM

Top 4 pick + 2nd rounder

TylerSVT* 06-19-2013 01:09 PM

6th + Brodie.

I wouldnt do it, but thats what it would take.

It would take a lot more than that

McShogun99 06-19-2013 01:55 PM

2nd overall and Kulikov for first overall?

AlowlyMcOilersfan 06-19-2013 01:56 PM

4th + Weber

done deal

I guess the Avs could add, but still. Colorado's second and third picks?

I think that may get it done:sarcasm:

Yeaoh 06-19-2013 02:01 PM

An unreasonable offer no GM who has the assets to make will be content to go through with.

The Avs aren't trading out of the top four. So that's not what it would take.

That's what it would take? For what? The 1st overall? No thanks. I don't think the Avs have any interest in trading out of the top 4.
