Edm/Tampa

To Edm: 3 rd overall

To Tampa: 7 th overall and Sam Gagner

Don't want to hear Sam is a overpayment to move 4 spots. It's gonna take that to get Tampa's pick.

zaYG 06-19-2013 07:51 PM

I don't see why Tampa would do this.

M Ace 06-19-2013 07:52 PM

I don't see why Oilers do this.....Sam is sooo underrated on these forum. He isn't going anywhere!

LOL you are trying to trade a center to Tampa when they have two much better ones then Gagner. They are not filling a need with Ganger and the quality of player drops greatly from 3 to 7.

Oiltankjob Fail 06-19-2013 07:53 PM

Potential franchise player > than a couple of good ones Tampa says no thanks.

The Nuge 06-19-2013 07:55 PM

I'd probably do it if Jones is there, but MacT might not

Pontius Palat 06-19-2013 07:57 PM

Tampa easily passes. We already have good centre depth with Stammer, Lecavalier, Johnson, Thompson and possibly Barkov. Gagner has no value to us.

BattleGuy 06-19-2013 07:59 PM

I'd rather keep Sam. He's finally turning into a good top 6 forward.

TampaBolt 06-19-2013 08:01 PM

Why would we need Gagner and pass on a potentially great player like Drouin? Center is something we are not lacking. If you want that pick it should start around Justin Schultz+ for 3rd overall+

X0X0A0 06-19-2013 08:03 PM

Nothing against Gagner but if we move down it's likely going to be for a defenseman. I'm also pretty wary of a player when it seems like he's included in so many proposals.

Exactly. I don't get why Oil fans say Gagner is severely underrated yet include him in what seems every proposal. :dunno:

stryfe604 06-19-2013 08:10 PM

This makes no sense for us. Why would we want Gagner? What else would we need to package with 3rd for Smid?

internetdotcom 06-19-2013 08:22 PM

LOL No chance Tampa does this. A player that Oilers fans try to unload in every proposal, where Tampa is also very deep already, does not get you into the top 3 in this draft.

Rschmitz 06-19-2013 08:26 PM

Honestly, the deal favors Edmonton but its close. The real problem is our center/forward depth. We would also be adding salary, and Gagners cap hit only goes up after next season...meanwhile we have several cheaper options like Connolly or Johnson.

Maybe Florida would be interested in making a deal like this if they are properly compensated.

Steve Yzerman 06-19-2013 08:29 PM

No thanks.

Actually, you are going to hear that Sam Gagner is worthless.

Who are you going to replace Vinny with when he gets bought out?

Because we need our second line center to be a different kind of player if we are going to keep all the kids which we are. He is a good player. just not a great fit for us.

I have heard a lot of talk on the sports stations here about the possibility. It makes sense really. But If you say it cant happen then ok

I don't see any reason for Tampa to do this.

Ok I get where you are coming from. He is also bad at faceoffs which sacres me away from him. Don't get me wrong he is a good player but he does not fit well with us either.

I am aware there is a lot of talk about the topic and well it does make sense but, he is still a good player and leader for us and his value off the ice in the Tampa community is worth much more than his contract alone. I know it can happen but I would be shocked if it did.

Yet another "unload spare parts on Tampa no matter what they need" deal.
