Quote:

The Dallas Stars announced today that the team has signed forward Travis Morin to a two year, two-way contract and forward Colton Sceviour to a one year, two-way contract.

Morin, 29, has skated in three career NHL games, all during the 2010-11 campaign. This season, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound forward from Minneapolis, Minn., played 59 games for the Texas Stars, Dallas' development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL), where he led the team with 32 assists and ranked third in overall scoring with 44 points (12G-32A). He also earned three assists in seven Calder Cup Playoff games. Morin was Dallas' ninth-round selection (263rd overall) in the 2004 NHL Draft.

Interesting with Texas having so many centers.

Dowling
Todd
Vause
Sonne
Glennie?
Ol' Toby
Wathier

I don't think Faksa can play in the AHL next year can he?

FrailSwan 06-20-2013 02:10 PM

Crap I keep doing that. Those darn January birthdays.

Of those "centers" I would say only Dowling and Vause are the only true centers. And Dowling the only Top 6. Texas was hurting offensively when Morin was out.

Plus you can never have too many centers. And then there's whoever Dallas/Texas picks up. Also Dowling and Vause are still free agents and haven't been resigned.

Glennie is usually just on the wing now.

Add Taylor Peters to that list - the overage guy the Stars signed from Portland in the W.

Interesting, I thought Morin was looked at as one of the veterans who would probably need to be let go to alleviate the contract limit crunch.

I like Morin down here, glad he's sticking around.

That was my thinking as well.

Not official yet per Cap Geek, but the contract is worth $550,000 in the NHL both years.

He'll make $150K Year 1 in Austin and $175 Year 2.
