EDM - OTT unlikely Blockbuster

Unlikely blockbuster between Ottawa and Edmonton

one of the following I think is decent value wise, I'm sure neither fan base wants to give up their guy though.

Zibanejad + 17th overall for 7th overall + Pajaarvi + Musil + Ana 2nd

AlowlyMcOilersfan 06-20-2013 03:27 PM

I'm not sure that I'd call that a blockbuster, lol.

I'd consider it.

I'm not sure that Ottawa fans would like it though.

gudzilla 06-20-2013 03:28 PM

paajarvi and musil aren't close to zibanejad.

Boobie Miles 06-20-2013 03:29 PM

Ottawa is at 17th

Maybe not Musil, but I'm sure Zibanejad knows Pajaarvi. :sarcasm:

We have the 17th overall.. not the 13th btw and it's still a no.. by 7th all of the Top end forwards are gone.

BigZKingK 06-20-2013 03:30 PM

Sens pick is the 17

I don't think the Sens would do it. Zibanejad is most likely close the the center prospects at the 7th pick. Zibanejad is more developed though and has played will in the NHL so that is just not the risk imo.

Then 13th for Pajaarvi who is most likely going to just be a bottom 6 guy his career. I'm not very sold on Musil either. Then it's a very late 2nd that is a total gamble if they become anything.

To me it's more of the 7th ie (Lindholm or Monahan) are close to Zibanejad with Zibanejad holding more value due to him being further along in his development and more proven.

Then the 17th is for Paajarvi Musil and the 2nd.

WillyBilly1990 06-20-2013 03:38 PM

Why trade a former 6th overall + 17th for a 7th overall 2 scrubs and a late 2nd

Mackinnon
Drouin
Barkov
Nish
Lindholm
Monahan
Seventh Pick

If the top forwards are all gone by 7th, Jones is left. You should at least know what the top 7 players likely are before throwing out outlandish claims.

In regards to the trade, Im not sure. I think both teams say no. Edm because the 7th pick is likely the best player in the trade, and theyre not giving up prv that easily . Ott because they developed Zib already (less risk), and he fits their team well.

SpezDispenser 06-20-2013 03:43 PM

Hell no! :)

Pajarvi was a 10th overall pick so #7 + #10 > #6 + #17

bert 06-20-2013 03:48 PM

I don't understand why Ottawa would do this.... Unless they thought Lindholm and or Monahan are significantly better then Zibanejad. Or they think MPS found his scoring touch.

The only deal that makes sense between Ottawa and Edmonton is something around Cowen and Eberle but I don't think Edmonton would do it because the + they would want with Cowen would be too much.

My bad got wpg and ott confused..

7th + Pajaarvi + Maracinin for 17th + Zibanejad

Not a chance in hell from Edmonton

Pajaarvi is a bust for where he was picked there is a difference

Likewise for Ottawa. We're not trading Zibby for a chance at picking a player possibly as good as him at #7.

ALso, its been fairly heavily documented that OTT-EDM make for the most ascerbic trade partners in the league. Honestly, can we not have any more proposals with these two teams?

Draft position isn't really a good argument. By that logic MPS for Benn would be a massive overpayment by the Oilers.

Benjamin 06-20-2013 04:45 PM

This trades makes the Sens worse and they lose out on the best player. Pass.

Lukus 06-20-2013 05:46 PM

I wouldn't be so quick to brush this proposal off. Unlike 99% of folks on here, I'm a big proponent of quality for quantity trades. This is a trade that I would only do on draft day after seeing who is left when Edmonton goes on the clock. If one of the top guns is still available at #7, then I just might pull the trigger.

Zibby is a good all-around player, no doubt, but not a sniper. This trade would give us a shot at such a player and more. Pajaarvi could be just as valuable under a different system and with the guidance of PM. The rest of the trade is just gravy.

FlyerFire 06-20-2013 05:48 PM

If it is "unlikely" then why even propose it?

Macch 06-20-2013 05:52 PM

Is this lakai17???

The kid is 22, three years in the NHL and hes a bust eh.... good detective work !!:yo:

Qward 06-20-2013 06:03 PM

Ottawa's two most pressing needs are a high end top 6, prefer top 3 and a top 4 RHD.

Magnus is neither of these.

Thank you, but decline.
