I just hope the Isles locker room is gonna be off the chart modern.

Bunk Moreland 06-27-2013 06:28 AM

I think I read they're adding the lockerroom in this offseason so I'm sure we will see some pictures by the end of the summer

The Korean* 07-06-2013 01:09 AM

Am I wrong in that the move to Brooklyn is alrady paying off? I doubt players would re-sign if Isles future was still up in the air. Stability ftw

OlTimeHockey 07-06-2013 01:55 AM

Or their attitude towards the rebuild....the team isn't trying to suck. They're turning a corner. If we signed on to play at NVMC through 2141 and started winning and had this lockerroom, the same would happen.

Guys want their name on the Cup, not on a nice stall.

New arena helps. And you are correct, knowing where they will be in 2 years or so is stability, but maybe not, if NVMC was going to keep being a dump and not renovated.

Any new rumors as to when the Isles are moving?
Wasn't there a rumor about after this season?

My point is if you're a loser in Brooklyn, expect players to go elsewhere where they can win. If you were challenging for the Cup every year in our "dump" you have players looking to join.

We have guys like JT, TH, CC and many others who want to win, thankfully, so this hopefully infects others.....and becomes our rep.

Good question, many are treating it like a foregone conclusion 2013-2014 is the last season rather than 2014-2015... but there is nothing official to substantiate that rumor to my knowledge.

Tavares, Grabner, Okposo, Nielsen, Moulson resigned before the move to brooklyn was announced, while the future was still in doubt so that is debatable.. (JT actually signed 2012 extension in 2011, and Frans signed in Feb of 2012, other contracts began in 2011, I think the move was announced in october 2012)

Anybody else notice in the photos released from mini-camp today that the practice jerseys are black and white? Don't think I've ever seen black and white practice jerseys before. Pretty sure they used to be dark blue and white and orange and white. Welcome to the beginning of the end.

I didn't see any black jerseys out there. Don't know what you're seeing. There are several different colored practice jerseys, but the dark blue and orange ones remained dominant.

In the picture they posted on facebook I'm fairly sure the jerseys are black and white. Saw some others on that were different colors. Obviously I'm just a little jumpy.

EDIT: This one. Again, I'm probably just jumpy.

Yeah, those are dark blue. A little tricky on the eyes sometimes.

Bunk Moreland 07-09-2013 09:54 PM

I think I've seen orange and also yellow versions of those.. Pretty sure they're just used for practice.

Renbarg 07-09-2013 09:56 PM

They make those in practically every color. Nothing to be alarmed about.

I'm just a little confused as to what all that means. Are the Barclay's execs just going to collaborate with the current NYI staff on things like promotions and the transition to Brooklyn? Or are the Barclay's people cleaning house of the current staff and bringing in all their own people to take over? I would be rather saddened to hear it was the latter with people losing their jobs.

I think that might just be lip-service due to the formalities of the lease in Nassau. It doesn't necessarily mean they won't try to get out of it early and head to Brooklyn after next season.

IslandersFan17 07-11-2013 07:51 AM

Im getting the overwhelming feeling the logo with either be tinkered with a little or something will be added to the jersey to display the new location. Especially if the execs are the Brooklyn ones.

Then again, if you look at the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL, if I am not mistaken, only once in their franchise history did their stadium actually fall within Dallas's city limits. Texas Stadium (Irving, Texas) and the new Cowboys Stadium (Arlington, Texas). However, despite that there is not any recognition of them not actually playing in Dallas anymore.

Thus, I hope the Islanders follow that same suit and don't alter a thing.

A friend of mine has some designs for the new uniforms that he's proposing to the Barclay's people.

His proposal is here: http://colossusnyc.carbonmade.com

I don't like the 1st (too much like Flyers' colots IMO) and 3rd (total departure) ones, but the 2nd is pretty good. I love the hat - I've actually always wanted an Isles' hat exactly like that, with just the "NY" part of the logo.

No offense to your friend, but all 3 of those 'sets' are brutal in every sense of the word.

Leave the NYI logo ALONE!! Just tweak the Island image to include Queens and Brooklyn and be done. Then create a new 3rd jersey and THAT'S IT.

Don't change or fix what is not broken. We shouldn't give the Brooklyn guys any leeway on this.

The logo is sacred!!!
