Apparently a Washington paper is speculating that Laich could be a buyout candidate, I could see us having interest if he is bought out.

BlueDream 06-26-2013 07:18 PM

I'd be okay with Laich. People like JR still have us interested in Briere too.

The buyouts will expand the FA group a little bit and make things more interesting. I could definitely see us going after a guy that gets bought out, as they could potentially not be looking for as much money in their new contract.

bleedblue1223 06-26-2013 07:19 PM

Briere makes no sense, we aren't close to his family, he wouldn't be a center here, and he's pretty much washed up.

Falco Lombardi 06-26-2013 07:24 PM

I feel like some people were connecting us to Laich a few years ago. Not sure if he's what we're looking for but hey.

He'd be good for the 3rd line, better than what we have, but he's not a playmaking top 6 center.

bleedblue1223 06-26-2013 07:48 PM

I just hope a bunch of centers get bought out, don't really care who, but a market full of centers will drive the price down on more than a few.

bleedblue1223 06-27-2013 07:59 AM

Vinny will be bought out. I could definitely see us signing a center now. Way too many available and not enough teams that are able to give stupid contracts.

I wonder what Lecavalier will be looking for. He'll probably end up in Montreal, but I'd love to have a Steen-Lecavalier-Tarasenko line next season.

And trade for Pavelski/Stastny just to be greedy

Parayko Physics 06-27-2013 08:26 AM

Sign Vinny for one year. See how he does and if he likes it here. If he doesn't work out or still wants to go back to TB after a year, he walks. Then you sign Stastny IF he hits UFA the next season, haha...

Halak Ness Monster 06-27-2013 08:48 AM

Lecavalier in a Blues jersey would be ideal. You aren't going to find many better centers available.

I'm a huge Vinny fan. I've watched him a lot the past few years, especially during their Conference Finals run. He is a perfect fit for our system. His defensive game has grown by leaps and bounds. He is also still very capable of putting up 65-70 points. Health has been a problem but not a huge problem.

I don't expect the Blues to beat out Montreal for him unless we move a higher priced player like Stewart or Perron.

I doubt he signs with us, I just hope we send him a competive offer.
I could see him sign in Mtl and make Plekanec even more available...

SirPaste 06-27-2013 09:11 AM

God I would love to get Vinny, but some team is gonna throw tons of cash at him, most likely MTL or TOR.

Alklha 06-27-2013 09:35 AM

He always seems to have indicated that it was Tampa or Montreal so I doubt Toronto would get a look in. I'd like to think our ability to compete and the supporting cast he would have would be enough to convince him to look at other options though...

We'd win a Cup with that roster, but yep we can dream.

I'd be worried about Elliott and Allen being our goaltending duo.

I wouldn't. Not with that team in front of him.

Amazing what a good playoffs can do for a players contract.

That is such a bad contract it's not even funny.

The guy has never hit 20 goals or 40 points in a single season, yet he scores 8 goals in one series and he's a freakin 4 million man......just silly.

Alklha 07-01-2013 08:05 AM

Just having a look on Capgeek, and for the 2014/15 season the Penguins have 8 players signed (7 with NTC's) and $49.25m committed :amazed: The cap is projected to remain $64.3m in 14/15

Penguins fans should be praying that the Coyotes get moved.

I'm still baffled they kept Letang. Especially for that much.

bleedblue1223 07-01-2013 10:47 AM

Fleury gets moved or bought out for sure.

bleedblue1223 07-01-2013 10:52 AM

Not a twitter person, but Luongo tweeting just #NOtradeclause is absolutely hilarious. Would've been even better if he tweeted that at Schneider.
