Orlando plays its home games at Amway Center, which is also home to the Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association, located in downtown Orlando. Opened in the fall of 2010, the facility is owned and operated by the City of Orlando on behalf of the Central Florida Community. The Amway Center was designed to reflect the character of the community, meet the goals of the users and build on the legacy of sports and entertainment in Orlando. The building features a sustainable, environmentally-friendly design and unmatched technology featuring 1,100 digital monitors and the largest high-definition scoreboard in an NBA venue, and multiple premium amenities available to all patrons in the building.

Huge modern arena with a home fanbase that draws very well and in an area that I'm sure many would love to visit and might just cause fans elsewhere to take the plunge as part of a larger winter vacation.

Sounds like a good choice for the ECHL.

First all star game since 2012.

Agreed. A great choice for the league.

I had a chance to attend a game in Orlando last season and I thought that the organization was quite good at game operations. Unlike the a**clowns who run the music in Cincinnati, the Orlando staff picked music which got the crowd going. It was nice to be at a hockey game which wasn't a (c)rap concert disguised as a hockey game.

The all star game was in Colorado in 2013.

I wonder if they will open up the whole arena...

EDIT: Just thought of this after I posted this. It would be a neat idea if somehow the NHL, AHL and ECHL could have a system similar to the MLB's where there is a futures game before the real ASG. Then you could easily sellout all the games. Example..

At Columbus -
Day 1: ECHL Skills
Day 2: AHL Skills
Day 3: ECHL ASG
Day 4: NHL Skills
Day 5: AHL ASG
Day 6: NHL ASG

A week-long hockey celebration in the host area and a guaranteed economic boom. It only wouldn't work if you would have an ASG around no ECHL or AHL teams like Nashville or Phoenix

I'm curious as to why Las Vegas hasn't hosted an All Star game?
Attendance?

Guessing they don't want to host it.
