David Perron being shopped?

On TSN, Darren Dreger was discussing players who could be moved this weekend and it included the usual suspects (Horcoff, Hemsky, Luongo, Bolland) discussed earlier, but it also included David Perron. My question is where he could be going? And for what?

TheJuxtaposer 06-27-2013 06:58 PM

Excellent. DW will swoop in. :naughty:

For whom? A center for sure. I'm not a Blues fan, but I've heard talk that either of Backes or Berglund perhaps being moved to wing, and the Blues are already understaffed at center as it is.

Perron for a bag of nickels

ExJbeck 06-27-2013 07:01 PM

I hope.

Don't know what the Blues would think about that, but since Desharnais is becoming expandable for the Habs, maybe a swap Perron - DD?

We'd rather have a bag of nickels

Vankiller Whale 06-27-2013 07:04 PM

Would love Perron on the Canucks. What would it take?

thestonedkoala 06-27-2013 07:05 PM

What happened to Perron? Wasn't he suppose to be a great player?

matt trick 06-27-2013 07:06 PM

Would be a great fit on the sharks. We currently have one playmaking center, and three goal scoring centers. Perron would look great next to Torres and Pavelski or Marleau and Couture. Problem is, I anticipate they'd ask for Pavelski. As a sharks fan, I'd decline.

Desharnais doesn't have the defensive ability or size to play center in St Louis. He will not be a target at all. He would get converted to wing and Perron is a much better winger.

Dreger is losing a lot of credibility over the past years.

He used to be one of my go-to analysts. Now he's trash.

HooliganX2 06-27-2013 07:07 PM

A #2 center is what it would take for Perron......

Well this is a lot more than a bag of nickles. I like that price better.

Fearless Leaf* 06-27-2013 07:09 PM

Yeah, i was shocked when I saw Dreger mentioning it on Tsn.

What happpened to Perron?

I thought Blues fans were very highon this guy and some had him on their untouchable list not too long ago.

BlueDream 06-27-2013 07:09 PM

I hope this is true. Perron is a good player but he doesn't fit in Hitchcock's system. Many nights he's on a completely different page than the rest of the team. He has a lot of passion and skill, but tries to do it all himself by stick-handling too long instead of using his teammates or actually shooting the puck. Also not very good defensively. He thinks he's a hotshot. He's constantly going offside or making his teammates go offside by dancing around the blueline instead of just carrying the puck in.

I think it'd definitely be in our best interest to swap him for a center of similar age and production (Pavelski and Plekanec for example are names we've discussed in the past). We'd want a deal around Kesler from Vancouver (realize we'd have to add but that's really all that interests me).

I personally think Perron belongs in the East, that'd suit his style more. No interest in Desharnais though so don't even bother with him.

If I'm Nonis I'm on this.

He had 1 off year,

year before on pace for 30+ goals
year before that on pace for 40+

Hatrick Marleau 06-27-2013 07:10 PM

Pavelski for Perron and a 2nd at the draft...book it.

Aceonfire 06-27-2013 07:11 PM

Perron to the Oilers. Yak and him can have diving competitions lol.

Most likely scenario IMO. Both sides would benefit from that trade.

Done from our end. Nice doing business. :)

shifting 06-27-2013 07:13 PM

A couple of things about Perron.

Not very fast skater, but very agile
Amazing stick handler, but can stick handle himself all the way to the blue line and cough the puck up
Quick shot, but not as accurate as one would like
He irritates opponents and can draw penalties, but commits too many offensive zone penalties

At least once a season he has to put white tape on his stick blade to remind himself to shoot the puck :shakehead

jmwc95 06-27-2013 07:14 PM

I figured Perron is the winger the Blues would shop. They already have a glut of wingers with Rattie and Jaskin on the way. They would need a #1/2 center or possibly a young LD if Leopold moves on. Here are their other current wingers:

Stewart
Steen
Oshie
Tarasenko
Schwartz
Reaves
Cracknell
If they got another center, Sobotka or possibly Berglund would move to wing.

I'm glad you're not our GM.

PocketNines 06-27-2013 07:15 PM

Nothing "happened" to Perron other than like the rest of the Blues offense he went cold over the final 4-6 weeks of the season. That cold stretch with not enough season time to rebound skewed his pace. He's a quality piece and if he's moved my suspicion is he won't be the best player in the deal.
