white has a great role on this team. I hope Dumont and himself are more regular guys on the bottom 6. I would move moen, for a 2nd or 3rd round pick if there are any takers.

The habs are turning into a fantastic hockey club, not too long and we will be competing for a cup.

thanks gauthier!

JayKing 06-28-2013 02:57 PM

Good news. Although he's very frustrating at times, we need a guy like him on our team.

Et le But 06-28-2013 03:05 PM

No surprises there.

He's still cheap enough that he adds far more than he takes away. When he is playing smart, he's a pain in the *** to the other team.

Riiiiight! Having White play 20 games on the 4th line is a fundamental element for a cup contender.

You know, if you like watching hockey fights, you can also write 'I like watching hockey fights, let's go White'!

I seriously hope that the coaching staff will manage to instill some self-control in this guy otherwise he's gonna spend more time in the penalty box than on the ice.

Agree White can be something of a loose cannon but don't underestimate the value of grit, grind and character especially in the postseason. In Chicago, Bickell scored just nine goals all season but netted nine in the playoffs. Yes they are very different but both have heart and can play physical.

Yeah White!

Hope Of Glory 06-28-2013 03:16 PM

Good. We'll need that kind of crazy at some point for sure.

If he can play like he did in the playoff on a regular basis, he can be a huge contributor for this team (grit/physical play wise).

Brainiac 06-28-2013 03:26 PM

I know, he brings something, but he's a very loose canon.

Small sample size but in the postseason, in 3 games he had 23 PIM and a grand total of 27 min. of TOI.

An energy player has to be able to control himself more than that. I don't know what he's on, but he should cut a little bit, IMO!

Brainiac 06-28-2013 03:31 PM

Sorry, I'm not obsessed with the Habs 4th line! :help:

You know, a message board is to... discuss. We can't agree on everything.

It's good to have White, fine. I just hope he manages to get more TOI than PIM, that's all. You know hockey is played on the ice, not in the penalty box.

Le Tricolore 06-28-2013 03:33 PM

I liked him until last year.

I really dislike him now.

Blind Gardien 06-28-2013 03:34 PM

Seems like he got mixed messages last season... not sure from where, maybe his own brain. He wanted to play, bottom line. But some of the things he thought would help actually hindered. He can do some good things, and sometimes we would need him to fight or instigate or do some cheap things, but end of the day the way he can play more often is to show some other stuff more often, chip in a point here and there, hit consistently/finish every check, keep working on his skating, defense, and faceoffs, etc.

Both him and Dumont are good candidates for energy line/spare player roles, young guys with upside and low cap hits. He should take his QO and work hard again this summer.

HabsUK 06-28-2013 03:43 PM

Small piece but will probably end up being my favourite signing of the summer, love the kids energy.

bud12 06-28-2013 04:20 PM

good. At least one more guy who don't play like a little girl

AllanMTL46 06-28-2013 04:25 PM

If he plays with his head, he's a keeper.

White <3

Claimed Off Waivers 06-28-2013 06:11 PM

Good news, he's a useful player when he doesn't act like a knucklehead.

DaNaultinus 06-28-2013 06:14 PM

Glad we're keeping White around! He really adds some toughness to our weak fourth line. :yo:

WeThreeKings 06-28-2013 06:16 PM

Any one who doesn't like this kid doesn't understand the important of him on an NHL roster.

wally weir 06-28-2013 06:22 PM

I really don't mind Moen, White and Prust on the fourth line. Problems arise when any of those guys has to play in the top nine.

I regards to White he has to learn to control his aggression and stop taking stupid penalties. I like the energy he brings and is a legitimate penalty killer. Good investment for the money about 720 000 to qualify.

Chris Cutter 06-28-2013 06:23 PM

If he plays like he did in game 3, he has a spot in our line-up.

Just looked, and besides White and Blunden, there are more RFAs that need to be qualified or possibly lost as UFA:

Weber
Geoffrion
Stejskal
Tokarski
Dumont
Mayer
Shultz
