ADRIAN FOSTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! is injury prone

NJ_Devil_Boy 09-26-2003 03:29 PM

Adrian Foster 1 (power play) (Ilkka Pikkarainen, Thomas Pihlman)

I don't know what is more impressive...

1a) Adrian Foster actually playing
1b) Foster playing with an injury
1c) Foster scoring a goal

2) NJ scored on the powerplay

3) Could this be something will be seeing in the future? (as of right now, 3 non-roster guys)

The preseason hasn't been too good, but I'm not concerned.

1) Brodeur has been solid when he's played and NJ has responded.
2) Only play in June matters. :yo: (Stanley Cup baby!!! :rolly: )

JasonMacIsaac 09-26-2003 03:38 PM

I think Lou is licking his chops, he knows with the rookies doing so well he can cut free some of the older players. Friesen only has a one year deal, Madden is a UFA, Pandolfo could be cut, Elias and Gomez can become expendable, Marshall can go. ect Lou should have a really really low salary cap when hockey is played next after the lockout.

Unthinkable 09-26-2003 03:53 PM

3-2 Flyers lead early in the 3rd

New Jersey 2:08, Patrik Elias 1 (Grant Marshall)

JasonMacIsaac 09-26-2003 03:58 PM

Tied you mean
Marshall

Unthinkable 09-26-2003 04:00 PM

3-3 game

New Jersey 4:55, Grant Marshall 1 (Scott Niedermayer, Scott Gomez)

JasonMacIsaac 09-26-2003 04:06 PM

Stevens Fought Brashear, I hope Stevens injures him.

Unthinkable 09-26-2003 04:12 PM

Looked like Brash was intent on starting WWIII in the 2nd period. Good to see Stevens answering the call.

Unthinkable 09-26-2003 04:16 PM

4-3 Flyers lead

Philadelphia 14:39, Michal Handzus 2 (unassisted)

Unthinkable 09-26-2003 04:22 PM

4-4 Game

New Jersey 16:14, Michael Rupp 1 (Scott Niedermayer)

Winston Wolf 09-26-2003 04:29 PM

Roenick in OT!!! :rolly:

I doubt it, because Brashear was 1st star of the game and didn't do anything else worthy of being 1st star. Have to see in the postgame summary.

JasonMacIsaac 09-26-2003 05:39 PM

I am really impressed with this result judging by the weak young roster we sent out. This is great news that our AHL team is competing at the NHL level to some degree.

Elias, Gomez, Stevens, Niedermayer, Rupp, White, etc...

That's quite the AHL roster, isn't it?

Clemmenson, Foster, Hale, Hulbig, Martin, Pihlman, Pikkarainen, and Suglobov were all in for the Devils and are all likely candidates for Albany once preseason ends. Not bad at all.

Big deal.

Philadelphia had AHL guys playing as well, so what's his point? Regardless, it's still a meaningless game.

Unthinkable 09-26-2003 06:31 PM

Preseason games are all about experimenting with new line combinations and players in the pursuit of discovering who looks most ready to make the jump to the NHL. I'm happy as hell that Elias had six shots on goal tonight and that Foster got an opportunity to show he can score against the big boys. Lots of encouraging signs for NJ thus far.

Devils Unseen Hand 09-26-2003 06:41 PM

I'm surprised they didn't call up Skrlac for this game. Has he even played in a preseason game yet?

Do I hear sour grapes?

The Flyers had one AHL forward playing: Sharp. That doesn't quite compare with the Devils' handful. The fact that that the Flyers' starting goalie played the entire 62:29 while the Devils played their third string goalie for more than half the game also speaks far more in the Devils' favor.

I don't think he has yet TDR. The Devils are more focused on possibly uncovering more goal scoring, more size upfront, more controlled nastiness etc... along with projecting how close players like Hale and Martin are to being fit for prime time action over addressing a need for a full fledged enforcer type imo.

ZadorovNJD* 09-26-2003 07:14 PM

Does anyone know how many points Rupp has so far in his preseason games?

JasonMacIsaac 09-26-2003 07:17 PM

Well Pihlman, Suglobov, Hulbig, Hale, Martin, Foster, Pikkarenen, Rupp isn't the strongest group of players in the world, there is a good chance all but one will be in the AHL.

JasonMacIsaac 09-26-2003 07:22 PM

Brashear will get his, Stevens of old days would have layed a snot kicking on him. Do I only wish we trade for Laraque (way tougher then brashear), the guy has been gooning it up vs our team all preseason. I hope Stevens throws a Stevens type hit on him and ends his carrer, I really hate Brashear, won't fight someone tougher then him, goes for non fighters. I remember actually he backed down from Laraque.
