Armstrong not coming back

http://www.rds.ca/hockey/canadiens/a...leurs-1.636914

I'm ok with that.

Watsatheo 06-29-2013 03:53 PM

Never liked the signing to be honest. He seemed like nice guy but I rather have White/Dumont given his icetime.

BigDaddyLurch 06-29-2013 03:54 PM

Armstrong was not very effective this year...no loss...;)

Myron Gaines* 06-29-2013 03:54 PM

He didn't bring much to the table, but he didn't hurt the team. Not directly anyway.

I hope we use his spot to bring in a forward who'll add another dimension to our 4th line.

overlords 06-29-2013 03:54 PM

Therrien can't keep all his pets, it seems.

Hugo Sham 06-29-2013 03:55 PM

hopefully they go out and sign or trade for some real size and grit for the 4th line

Harpo 06-29-2013 03:56 PM

No problem with that. Didn't hate him, but he really didn't show anything special.

Kimota 06-29-2013 03:58 PM

Thank you Bergevin for realising that he sucked.

Habs10Habs 06-29-2013 04:00 PM

Dumont will more than replace what Armstrong brings, so no big loss here.

WeThreeKings 06-29-2013 04:04 PM

Good, he sucks.

One Less Louise 06-29-2013 04:06 PM

Terrible player. I was really underwhelmed. Glad he's gone.

StellerEller 06-29-2013 04:13 PM

Great team guy but with our youth blossoming and free agents to be had, he would be a waste of a roster spot.

Galchenyuk27 06-29-2013 04:15 PM

Seemed like he was a great locker room guy, but we need more than that and he didn't provide much on the ice. Good news.

MonkeyBusiness 06-29-2013 04:33 PM

Good locker room guy, but that's why we kept Drewiske. White is going to take his spot and bring much more to the table.

Whitesnake 06-29-2013 04:35 PM

Phew.....that one was close. Really thought we'd hear about how great he is in the room and all. Again, convince him to retire, and hire him as a "room" coach or something....

Exactly.

Thanks for your efforts Colby and good luck elsewhere.

Et le But 06-29-2013 04:38 PM

He wasn't bad, but he wasn't good either. At most a spare forward, and we have plenty of those. He was underrated if anything last year, but there's more versatile 4th liners out there that won't lead to "BAAAW TOUGHNESS" cries.

ThaDevilGirl 06-29-2013 04:40 PM

Good luck Army.

dreamingofdrouin* 06-29-2013 04:42 PM

this was a no risk signing from the start...just an experiment...he did a good job...he was very reliable...never put us in a bad position in the game...i understand wanting to get somebody with a little more jump on that line though. makes total sense.

overlords 06-29-2013 04:45 PM

Stubbs is heartbroken.

Hope Of Glory 06-29-2013 04:45 PM

Liked him as a 13th forward, but I like him even more now that he's gone. Good guy, hope he finds some team for next year. Good luck.

Yeah....that just seems like we're watching a photo album of a guy that just died or something....

Blind Gardien 06-29-2013 04:47 PM

Yay. Armstrong seemed to be very well-liked by his teammates and coaches, and he always tried hard. But the unfortunate reality is that he makes about as little contribution on the ice as a player can possibly make while still hanging onto an NHL job. I was a little worried that his popularity would lead to him being retained. Good to hear the Habs are looking to improve on him.

Galchenyuk27 06-29-2013 04:47 PM

What game was it in the playoffs where he had a breakway on goal? I remember I was in a bar for that game and immediately stood up when I saw a player in on goal and then I sat down a split second later when I saw "oh ****, it's just Armstrong"...

Pretty sure he hit the post.
