From Modo and SHL to the New York Rangers and the NHL.
Ulf Samuelsson has clearly with a new job.
He becomes an assistant coach for Henrik Lundqvist and the other stars of the Rangers.
- It will be great, I played the self four seasons at the club, so it feels a bit like coming home, says Uffe to SportExpressen.se.

ULFIE!

If this is true, I'm very, very happy about it.

Rangers79 06-30-2013 01:31 PM

Not a bad choice, has experience, ex ranger. Should make people happy

JeffMangum 06-30-2013 01:32 PM

Based on what I read, sounds like he's done well as a coach.

Seems like a good move.

Vitto79 06-30-2013 01:32 PM

Physical Dman on the roster I see:laugh:

ECL 06-30-2013 01:32 PM

Nice.

Mats Zuccarelli 06-30-2013 01:33 PM

Rangers Fail 06-30-2013 01:33 PM

Interesting. I hope AV got to pick his own guys.

Crazed Beaver 06-30-2013 01:38 PM

Outstanding!!!!!!!!!

The Perfect Paradox 06-30-2013 01:46 PM

Will he suit up and finally fill the void for a nasty defenseman? :sarcasm:

nyr2k2 06-30-2013 01:47 PM

Nice. Welcome, Ulf.

That's why McIlrath is in the organization, and could compete for a spot in camp. Who better to coach a player like McIlrath then Ulf and Beuke.

Lerb 06-30-2013 02:08 PM

someone smeared Mr.Samuelsson a while ago. What are his down sides?

Sticky Fingers 06-30-2013 02:08 PM

Also, RIP to opposing teams Assistant Coaches. Ours will **** theirs up.

Synergy27 06-30-2013 03:22 PM

Dude was sick on the PP in his day. He's clearly being brought in to fill that void. :sarcasm:

Hated Ulfie my entire life, even after he became a Ranger. My lasting memory of him is a goal that went into the Rangers net off of his face. Dude seems to have made a name for himself as a coach, but I don't know much, if anything, about the job he's done so I'm indifferent to this until I see what he brings.

Ola 06-30-2013 03:36 PM

Ulfie was a true warrior as a player. There are some dirty hits, but he got a much worse rep than his cheap shoots warrants because he didn't fight.

I liked him more as a player than a coach though. I think he has done a decent job, but nothing spectacular. He should be given one thing though; he has paid his dues. Assisted in the NHL. Assisted in the AHL. Head coaching job in the SEL.

He is a really tough, no-nonsense coach. I think he is pretty demanding, and I don't get the feeling that he is all that positive/up-beat.

TheDave1022 06-30-2013 03:59 PM

From Larry Brooks too

You should probably read up on him as a coach and get informed before acting so annoyed over an opinion based on nothing.

Bleed Ranger Blue 06-30-2013 04:08 PM

At the very least, he can teach our defensemen the art of the knee to knee hit.
