Another gem pick, very hard worker, stuck behind some great players in London will get expanded role next year

Doesn't have great stats.. Not sure why everyone's passing on Subban.

Solid pick. Im happy we are restocking our forward depth, as its been pretty weak as of late with lots of picks not panning out (hamilton, martindale, etc.)

London was just a very deep team. Remi Elie was a 2nd round pick, and his point totals were even lower.

Because he won't make the NHL

I honestly would've taken a chance on Suban at this point. I know Suban is really undersized, but he's got good skill.

not crazy about this pick, no stats really and not very big. could have done better here IMO.

Nice pick.

I was hoping they'd take a look at him.

Watch for him to have a big jump in numbers next year while still having a hard working two-way game a la Josh Anderson of London last year.

Will he really? 7 of the players who finished ahead of Platzer in scoring on London are returning next year. Plus, they might be able to swing Michael McCarron away from his college commitment. It looks he'll buried deep on the roster again next year.

Platzer put up more points than Remi Elie, who went in the second. Idk, just something to think about.

Kyle Platzer ‏@kyleplatzer
Leaving for Edmonton in the morning, couldn't be more excited.

I had him ranked 33rd among OHL players for the draft.

Just to add to that a bit...

The Knights generally ask their 3rd/4th liners to play a specific style that can stagnate offensive creativity. They are asked to dump and chase and to work the walls, in order to tire out opposing defenses so that their 1st and 2nd lines can have greater success. And Platzer did just that this year. So I think it sort of remains to be seen how much "pure" offensive ability he has. We'll likely see that next year when he's given the opportunity to replace Seth Griffith, likely Alex Broadhurst, and maybe even possibly Bo Horvat.

He'll look good in Oiler colors.
