Supposedly he will make a decision in a couple of months

Uh oh.

Madevilz 07-04-2013 10:32 AM

I swear I thought I read that he retired.
Good for him though.

Avim86 07-04-2013 10:32 AM

It's not like he was super talented that he should risk his life...He should try to enjoy a healthy life...imo of course..

LyricalLyricist 07-04-2013 10:35 AM

He wants to play and good on him for trying. You don't want to leave your passion with regret but you don't want to regret not walking away either. Hopefully he makes a decision that works for him now and in the future.

Why would he be risking his life?

Did we tender him a QO?

There was a lot of confusion about that. The actual story was that he informed the Canadiens he was considering retiring, but he never actually did.

Most assumed he didn't because he wanted to continue to be eligible to his entitlements as an injured active player, and that may still be the case. But clearly at 24, he's not yet ready to call it a day.

JPGoHabsGo 07-04-2013 01:41 PM

Well good for him, but he needs to do whats best for his health.

ChoseLa 07-04-2013 01:48 PM

Yeah i'm pretty sure he lost his mean streak also, bit that it was a big part of his game, but he didn't mind to rough it up and drop the gloves against bigger opponents.

Fixed.

Blake Geoffrion is participating in the Nashville Predators' development camp.
Geoffrion is an unrestricted free agent after completing his one-year contract with Montreal. His 2012-13 campaign was cut short when he was hospitalized with a depressed skull fracture. At one point he considered retiring, but he has fortunately recovered. It wouldn't be surprising if the Predators decide to sign him to a two-way contract this summer.

From Rotoworld

Guilliam 07-12-2013 11:22 AM

I would have hoped that if he made a comeback it would be with us.

Oh well...

Jack Bourdain 07-12-2013 11:47 AM

Best of luck, I remember dominating with him on my HUT.

I think Rotoworld may have their Geoffrion's mixed up. Blake's little brother, Sebastian, is in Nashville's camp.

Stjonnypopo 07-12-2013 12:45 PM

Yeah I don't think Blake has been training with any specific team...

And I would think that he would contact MTL first if he were planning to come back.

While I am happy for the guy, and hope it works out okay for him... Does it concerns us in any way beside our history with the guy and his family blood?

No, why would it be a concern? He is a fringe player, there is no real marketing value to his name that would make them give him a roster spot undeservedly.

PricePkPatch* 07-12-2013 03:28 PM

I was just wondering if we still had any link to him, that's all

He is a former Montréal Canadiens player, that's your link.

So, no link whatsoever. Cool

WhiskeySeven 07-12-2013 05:36 PM

I felt it was really cool to see him be the (fourth?) generation Geoffrion on the ice. One of the few bright spots from last year.

Myron Gaines* 07-12-2013 05:45 PM

Good for him. Hope to see him back in the NHL someday, it'd be a heck of a story.

This. If he can't or chooses not to, I hope he does well

Alexdaman 07-12-2013 06:42 PM

meh... he could of applied for the canadiens dev camp, I'm sure he would of been accepted. I guess trying out in Nashville makes more sense for him distance from home wise.

TwineSniper 07-12-2013 07:19 PM

*sigh

To avoid EVEN more confusion, Blake is NOT at Nashville's development camp, his younger brother is. Here is Nashville's Development camp roster, he's not on there.

http://www.ontheforecheck.com/2013/7...mp-roster-2013

He also is NOT retired, he only briefly considered it.

According to this:

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/opin...ee-agents.html

He is a Group VI Unrestricted Free Agent, and is no longer our property. He's free to sign with us, or anybody else.
