Good man/depth dman Aaron Johnson signs with #NYR.

Loffen 07-05-2013 03:53 PM

AHL signing? This guy never seems to make the big squad.

Played 10 games. AHL signing.

Tawnos 07-05-2013 03:54 PM

This year's version of Brendan Bell.

I would think so. A way for the Rangers to have a bit of depth and improve the AHL team a bit.

Joey Bones 07-05-2013 03:54 PM

Never heard of him, scouting report?

10 out of 48. It's depth

Physical, but that's about it. Bickel-esque player.

nyr2k2 07-05-2013 03:55 PM

I don't even know who that is.

From elite prospets

An offensive-minded defenseman, Johnson is a very good skater. Has good offensive instincts, and can quarterback the powerplay at lowel levels.
Needs to improve his play in his own end. Can make a few mistakes with the puck.

1 yr, $600,000 for Aaron Johnson with the NYR.
Good terms for a depth d-man.

Kane One 07-05-2013 03:56 PM

I have no idea who this guy is.

Burlington Bomb 26 07-05-2013 03:56 PM

Rick Nash's best friend. Nothing to see here.

Glen Teflon Sather 07-05-2013 03:56 PM

Atta boy Slats! The signing that puts us over the top!

Tawnos 07-05-2013 03:56 PM

This is similar to bringing in Syrvet. Improves the Wolfpack's defense and is a serviceable emergency callup, if needed.

So AHL signing? Depth for the minors?

EpicDing 07-05-2013 03:57 PM

Obligatory "The Cup is ours!!111!!1!" post.

NYR Viper 07-05-2013 03:57 PM

It's important to note, his salary is below the 950k limit so if he is waived and sent down there is no cap hit.

Exactly. Organizations need these types of guys.

New York RKY 07-05-2013 03:57 PM

Obligatory "bring us the Stanley Cup" comment.

yea as a 2 way deal this is a good one. A.Johnson has been around for a while bouncing up and down

good depth in CT with Syvet, Bickel who have NHL experience. McIlrath has some time to develop

they now have a few call ups on D if need be

nyr2k2 07-05-2013 03:58 PM

Now let's wait for a few posters to come in here, having Googled the guy and read his scouting report, to tell us why he's an awesome depth signing or complete waste.

Everyone is an expert on HF!

In all seriousness, his numbers look fine. Hartford needs help on D and he has apparently played in almost 300 NHL games, so he's not completely worthless I guess. Fine by me.

Carlos Ranger 07-05-2013 03:59 PM

Another lefty dman:shakehead

He seriously is. It was an ongoing joke on the Jackets board that we kept Nash happy by signing this dude.
