Ya isnt that anemic huh? Can you imagine the state of the NHL today throughout the US if instead the Rangers, and not Montreal & Toronto were exchanging Cups late 50's through the 60's pre-expansion but for that blip by Americas 2nd City in Chicago? That all allusive national broadcasting contract probably wouldve arrived decades ago, and as domestic immigration fanning out from NYC to California, the SW & South really began in earnest, ready made markets, the game far from being alien, broadcast audiences substantial.
