Will Hodgson be booed in Vancouver?

He has played a game in Vancouver after that trade, but it was like a week after and since then we have found out a lot more details about why that trade was made. Will he be booed/cheered or just be treated like any other player?

Petey Cee 07-10-2013 04:55 AM

Cody hodgson is the most revered player in vancouver canuck history he will never be booed!

Hammer79 07-10-2013 05:45 AM

I doubt it. He didn't demand a trade, he just irritated management enough that they wanted to wash their hands of him. If anything, he would probably get cheered by the anti-MG Canucks fans.

nameless1 07-10-2013 05:55 AM

Depends.
Casual fans probably will not...
But hardcore fans...
And most people from here who can afford to go to games...
Probably will.
Many of them are well-aware of what happened behind the scenes...
And it is hard not to boo him.

Stories Tales Lies 07-10-2013 05:56 AM

Yes, however he will not hear it because the crowed cannot raise there voice loud enough

TBIF 07-10-2013 06:03 AM

"And it sounds like the crowd has been Louuuuing all night"

Hammer79 07-10-2013 06:15 AM

All booing him would do is inflate his already massive ego. He'll think it means we're sore about losing him, because you know, he's so great. :sarcasm:

TBIF 07-10-2013 07:15 AM

Also, for the lulz, if we could afford it imagine if the canucks offer sheeted Cody

Over $3,364,391 to $5,046,585 - 1st round pick, 3rd
Over $5,046,585 to $6,728,781 - 1st round pick, 2nd, 3rd

Wilch 07-10-2013 07:34 AM

Probably not. The people who will actually boo him can't afford to attend the games.

y2kcanucks 07-10-2013 09:22 AM

I don't see reason to boo him. Just because Gillis completely trashed him in a manner that you rarely see GM's do because its unprofessional? Doubt it.

dave babych returns 07-10-2013 09:28 AM

Can't see why he'd get any particularly significant response out of the crowd.

I would guess most fans at the Rog are going to be more influenced by a players contribution on the ice than by what their agent said on twitter or what the GM said about their agent or dad or whatever.

On the ice Cody was an effective player for this team for about half a season, so I don't imagine he's going to be the focal point upon returning (again) unless he's a major factor in that game.

I'm sure he'll get some polite applause from the crowd, as hopefully will Christian Ehrhoff who actually had a major impact on the ice as a Canuck.

Tiranis 07-10-2013 09:49 AM

At the rate he's going he might be booed in Buffalo before he makes it here. :sarcasm:

ddawg1950 07-10-2013 10:00 AM

Why would anyone bother?

Exactly. I would "meh" him.

"Meeeeeeehhhhhhhh!!!!!" "Feel my indifference!!"

MrShift4 07-10-2013 10:25 AM

Who? :D

ARSix 07-10-2013 10:26 AM

Booing returning players should be reserved for traitors like Jagr, Heatley and Alfredsson.

Agreed.

dave babych returns 07-10-2013 10:36 AM

Alfredsson? Jesus.

ARSix 07-10-2013 10:43 AM

That was tongue in cheek. I bet they do boo Alfie though. What they should do is wait until the 11 minute mark as usual, and then... ALFIE SUCKS!

dave babych returns 07-10-2013 10:55 AM

Ahh. I withdraw my disdain.

No they're not. All you know is what a GM covering his own ass has chosen to tell you.

Well, there is some secondary supporting evidence (like Ritch Winter's twitter escapades) as well.

Eddy Punch Clock 07-10-2013 11:40 AM

Booing would be pretty lame.

Having Kassian slam him into the boards and say "thanks for keeping the number warm for me" or "tell your Dad thanks for getting me out of that **** hole of a city" would be much more appropriate. :yo:

Wisp 07-10-2013 11:44 AM

He should be.

It's also naive to dismiss what we know as simply the lie of a GM. He didn't do a prospect swap with his top prospect for the hell of it.

Friedman and Eric Francis have had reports on corroborating Gillis' take on Hodgson, too.
