New faces and new numbers

Predict the numbers for new oilers.

Here is mine:
Most obvious one is Yak switch to 10

Ference 21
Perron 16 or 39
Klefbom 6
Gordon 15
Labarbera 35

Oilgasms 07-11-2013 10:24 PM

Schultz will probably take Whitneys old 6

Cam98 07-11-2013 10:25 PM

i got feeling yakupov and schulltz will keep there current numbers.

40oz 07-11-2013 10:27 PM

I bet Lander gets a new number, Perron gets 57.

Valic 07-11-2013 10:32 PM

Lander has always been 51 till he kept his camp number 57.

misfit 07-11-2013 10:33 PM

I don't think it's a slam dunk that Yakupov changes to 10, but it would be awesome if he did. I never liked 64 (what is he, a long snapper?). Also, Schultz would have to be traded prior to training camp for Gordon to get 15 (that number is cursed here anyway)

Ference - 21
Perron - 39
Klefbom - 8
Larsen - 36
Labarbera - who cares, he's a goalie :sarcasm: (ok, 33)
Gordon - 25

Soli 07-11-2013 10:34 PM

1 - Labarbera
8 - Klefbom
10 - Yakupov
16 - Gordon
18 - Joensuu
21 - Ference
51 - Lander
57 - Perron

40oz 07-11-2013 10:38 PM

Quick google search shows Labarbera wearing 1, 30, 35 and 39. My guess is 99

Trafalgar Law 07-11-2013 10:42 PM

No way the Oilers let Perron have 39. He'll probably get 57. Yakupov will probably take 10, but I'm hoping he keeps 64 because I have a feeling "N64" would've been almost meme-like. I don't want Gordon, or any Oiler for that matter, to have number 15 for obvious reasons.

I don't think the Oilers care about #39. They gave it to Chris Minard for his cup of coffee back in 2010. If they give it to a fill in, I imagine a key piece like Perron would have no issues.

Website already has a lot of these posted actually. I'm on my phone but someone could summarize it quickly

I think 10 will be retired :sarcasm:

None of the new guys

fysloc 07-11-2013 11:10 PM

Can someone explain why 15 is cursed? I'm too new to know who wore 15

IsbUster for one

OilerFan4Life 07-11-2013 11:11 PM

Larsen #36.

Has 36 been worn since Stoll prior to switching to 16?

40oz 07-11-2013 11:13 PM

Lupul wore 15 as well.

Don't get me started on 44.

Pouliot, Roy, Linglet.

This will also tell you why 15 is cursed. No one has worn it for more than 2 seasons. It's on you, Schultz!

Speaking of Isbister....the excitement in this city when we acquired him....lol...I laugh thinking back to it.

We were a mediocre team getting whipped by dallas in the 1st round every year and we bring home this big local kid who was drafted very highly and I believe his first game was on HNIC. He scored (maybe even twice) and also beat the crap out of someone...Fans were so juiced.

Guy was horrible after that first game,

OilerFan4Life 07-11-2013 11:20 PM

Damn...Niinimaa for Isbister and Torres was the deal.

Certainly a sly trade by Kevin Lowe. Janne was horrific after leaving here and obviously Raffi gave us a number of very good seasons.

Yeah15 07-11-2013 11:20 PM

Despite never actually playing a game for the Oilers wearing #15, Heatley spurning us also adds to the 15 "curse".

This is exactly how I see it as well.

misfit 07-11-2013 11:25 PM

Torres was the centerpiece of the Niinimaa trade right from the start even though Isbister was already in the NHL for some time at that point.

I remember being excited at that deal. Couldn't understand why some of the media sceptically referred to him as Chad Isbister. Found out pretty quick. He and Kilger were clones. Big guys with lots of ability who sucked.

Uhh? Who's Chris Minard again? In that case, I think Perron will have his choice then.
