Waiver draft: Who will be available from your team?

Whom do you think will be available from your favorite team?

Vincent Vega 09-27-2003 05:09 AM

Detroit: Curtis Joseph and Boyd Deveraux will most likely me available.

A.J. 09-27-2003 05:23 AM

This is my guess for the Leafs protected list....

1) Mats Sundin
2) Alexander Mogilny
3) Owen Nolan
4) Nik Antropov
5) Gary Roberts
6) Joe Nieuwendyk
7) Darcy Tucker
8) Mikael Renberg
9) Robert Reichel
10) Tie Domi
11) {Alexei Ponikarovsky}
12) Tomas Kaberle
13) Bryan McCabe
14) Ric Jackman
15) Karel Pilar
16) Bryan Marchment
17) Aki Berg
18) {Pierre Hedin}
19) Eddie Belfour
20) Trevor Kidd {he's the only option for the 2nd protected goalie}

I'm still not sure if Ponikarovsky & Hedin have to be protected, but if they do, then they take those 2 open spots, and these players may find themselves left unprotected IMO....

Josh Holden
Harold Druken {still recovering from shoulder surgery}
Travis Green
Wade Belak
Tom Fitzgerald
Nathan Perrott
Aaron Gavey
Brad Leeb {I think}
Marc Moro
Mike Minard
Jeff Daw

Reichel wouldn't have to be protected, no one in the league will pick up his salary, I'd have to say the leafs will protect Belak over him.

you don't think they'll protect Travis Green over Wade Belak?

jhopspensfan 09-27-2003 07:53 AM

Aubin and Kraft (amongst others) from the Pens.

Munchausen 09-27-2003 09:24 AM

for Montreal...

Protected forwards
Koivu
Bulis
Zednik
Audette *
Ward
Ryder
Ribeiro
Perreault
Kilger
Juneau
Sundstrom
Dwyer
(Hossa doesn't need to be protected)

Protected Dmen
Markov
Souray
Rivet
Quintal
Brisebois *
Bouillon
(Komisarek and Hainsey don't need to be protected)

Protected goalies
Theodore
Garon

That leaves Dykhuis, Traverse, Dagenais, Blouin, Damphousse and Dackell unprotected if I'm not mistaking

* Audette and Brisebois could be exposed as well if they want to unload their salaries or are confident they will not get picked because of their contracts.

No, Green makes too much for anyone to take, though I'd protect Green over Renberg.
Belak is cheap and versatile, and a good player to have around with a 23 man roster.

thome_26 09-27-2003 12:52 PM

I won't even try with the Oilers.... such a mess.....

WEll ok, Ill try:
Protected:
1.Smyth
2.Hemsky (does he need to be protected?)
3.Isbister
4.Dvorak
5.Horcoff
6.Reasoner (would get nabbed this time!)
7.Moreau
8.York
9.Brewer
10.Smith
11.Staios
12.Bergeron (see Hemsky)
13.Chimera
14.Laraque
15.Semenov
16.Cross
17.Pisani
18.Ferguson
19.Salo
20.Conklin

I'm not 100% how it goes, so I'm not sure if Bergeron/Hemsky/Pisani have to be protected....

JasonMacIsaac 09-27-2003 01:30 PM

Clemmensen, Kariya, Balmochnykh and most of the AHL team.

Jovavic 09-27-2003 01:36 PM

I got a feeling that Grand-Pierre isn't going to be protected. He'd be about #9 or #10 on our defense depth chart and he's not making a good impression has a forward.

Hemsky is exempt and I think Bergeron is as well. Both are under 25. Pisani has to be protected.

This is what I think the Colorado list will look like. Not much talent left unprotected. Maybe Atlanta, under influence from Bob Hartley, will pick Larsen up in the waiver draft due to their ties since the Colorado and the Hershey time.

[PROTECTED]
David Aebischer
Petr Franek

Rob Blake
Adam Foote
Derek Morris
Martin Skoula

Alex Tanguay
Bates Battaglia
Andrei Nikolishin
Dan Hinote
Peter Worrell
Serge Aubin
Brian Willsie

[UNPROTECTED]

Big McLargehuge 09-27-2003 03:06 PM

J-S Aubin and Reid Simpson are the only gimmes on Pittsburgh.

I highly doubt Beech, Kraft, or Abid will left be unprotected, regardless of their pre-season.

Lindgren would be a nice pickup. wasn't he a good addition to the Nucks last year? and Dallas Eakins...boy, i'm prayin Colorado snaps him up. we don't need that John-Michael Liles eating up valuable ice time... :joker:

He was for the games he played... He's pretty injury prone though. I've heard rumors that Detroit was interested in him as well, which I could see with Larionov gone. But all in all he's not worth that much to the team and would be easily replaced from within. I also heard he said he wouldn't play anywhere but Vancouver.. Don't know how that would affect other teams deciding on picking him up.

jdsrangers 09-27-2003 05:27 PM

The buzz is the Rangers might expose:

Richard Scott, Ronald Petrovicky or Matt Barnaby.

You have to beleive that Sather would try to trade Barnaby before letting him go for nothing.

Face Wash 09-27-2003 05:58 PM

My best guess for the Kings will be:

Steve Kelly
Chris Schmidt
Brad Chartrand
Jon Sim
Jerred Smithson
Maxim Kuznetsov
Brad Norton
Bryan Muir
Richard Seeley
Jason Holland
Pavel Rosa
John Tripp

I think Kuznetzov not getting into camp hurts him here... Norton is versatile and tough and therefore it's questionable if he'll be left out there, but Brennan and Flinn aren't eligible for the draft and therefore I think it makes sense to dangle him.

Although Lubos Bartecko is a possible keeper as well.

I don't think Huet is eligible for the waiver draft (could be wrong about that) so the Kings will protect Roman (obviously) and Hnilicka and pretty much keep their goaltending in tact.

Frolov is ineligible for this draft by ONE GAME I believe. :yo:

I might have some ineligible guys on this list... I didn't go into heavy research on it, so I apologize, but you didn't expect to see Jason Allison or Deader on this list anyway, so if I'm off, I'm not off by too much.

Uhh.. Where did that come from.

Is Scott even elligable?
Barnaby is a deffenite no.
Petrovicky will be exposed.

Uncle Larry Brooks. I thought Scott didn't but Brooks said he did. Barney might be exposed, he makes almost $2M and is on the fouth line & Sather wants energy on that line without taking penalties.
