Gagne/Lecavalier/Jagr

OK, so hear me out.

First, this is crazy, and basically amounts to a dream scenario.

We trade Read/Mez/2nd rounder for a young defender with 2nd pairing ceiling, and a decent prospect.

We sign Jagr and Gagne.

We move Hartnell to the 3rd line, and move Schenn up to the first line, likely giving us the best third line in the NHL.

Schenn/Giroux/Voracek
Gagne/Lecavilier/Jagr
Hartnell/Coots/Simmonds

Is our top 9.

With Vinny's passing, and Jagr's puck control, I think they could turn Gagne into a 20 goal scorer.

Please don't flame me.

poneill27 07-19-2013 09:35 AM

That line will be on IR in no time. No thanks

Hiesenberg 07-19-2013 09:43 AM

Seriously, that line has the potential to be really awesome, or play about 19 games together.

AtlasRust 07-19-2013 09:56 AM

C'mon! Defensively responsible, great puck-moving, and a good amount of scoring power. 3 future HOFers! Maybe I'm being a little generous.

LegionOfDoom91 07-19-2013 10:01 AM

Jagr is the only HOFer out of that group right now. Lecavalier is boarder line at best & Gagne is no where close.

That line is a disaster. The Jagr nostalgia is worse than the Gagne nostalgia among Flyers fans.

It would have been a good line 10 years ago though. Lecavalier is the only one out of the group that can still put up points.

AtlasRust 07-19-2013 10:04 AM

We'd be an automatic dynasty if we used that line. Three consecutive cup wins minimum. Each of them would go 30/30 and be a +15. I don't know why Holmgren hasn't done it already.

Edit: Also, Lindros would come out of retirement.

Protest 07-19-2013 10:37 AM

You're very bored at work dude, aren't you.

This line would be unstoppable in NHL 04.

Flyerfan4life 07-19-2013 11:54 AM

if Jags does someohow manage to come back to Philly, ur dreaming if you think he's playing with anyone but Roo.

those 2 were magic, and FOR sure would be reunited again.

I saw this and shrugged, Atlas. The Flyers should be promoting the kids, not the Over the Hill Gang.

Alchemy 07-19-2013 12:25 PM

Good thing you aren't GM.

One season is all I ask.

JDinkalage Morgoone 07-19-2013 12:44 PM

The Flyers should try and lure Ray Bourque out of retirement

ILoveStephanieBrown 07-19-2013 12:58 PM

It's ideas like this that paint Flyers fans as being delusional. No offense dude.

BernieParent 07-19-2013 01:02 PM

In theory, I love the idea for entertainment value. It would be great watching these vets together, especially Lecavalier and Jagr.

Stizzle 07-19-2013 02:06 PM

No thank you.

I've already admitted this was crazy, and I don't honestly expect this to happen... But it's the off-season, and I'm having a little bit of fun. Besides... I don't especially care if other fanbases think we're delusional. At least we're exciting.

GKJ 07-19-2013 02:19 PM

This would have been an awesome line 11 years ago.

I'm not PaRappa the Rapper.... I wouldn't want to see it on the ice.

JVR21 07-19-2013 03:24 PM

No. God we finally have plenty of young talent to put into the lineup and you want to sacrifice their development for a washed up Gagne? Come on, man.

scoring power? Gagne is washed up, and so is Jagr. i don't want to stick Vinny on a line with two vets FAR past their primes. no thanks. Gagne and Jagr are done. neither deserves to be on any teams 2nd line. Vinny should play with two young kids like Schenn and Simmonds.
