San Jose Sharks 2013-2014 Schedule

http://www.nhl.com/ice/schedulebyseason.htm?team=sjs

Looks like we're opening against Vancouver!

SharksFan1 07-19-2013 12:17 PM

I though I would like the new division, but now that I realize that they are only playing in Anaheim twice, which is basically the only opportunity I get to see them play live, I am no longer a fan of the new divisions.

SharksFan1 07-19-2013 12:20 PM

Interesting, I don't see the long road trip in February like they normally have due to the tennis tournament.

CJL182 07-19-2013 12:20 PM

Only took a quick skim, but it doesn't seem too crazy. There's a 1pm game at the Tank on Black Friday, and a month between home games in Feb and March due to the Olympic schedule.

The Olympic Break is February 9th-25th.

Barrie22 07-19-2013 12:26 PM

October 27th is my marking on the calender hehe

Barrie22 07-19-2013 12:33 PM

9 or 10 back to back games pretty good.

Longest road trip is 2 sets of 5 games.

Longest home stretch is 5 games.

Awww i am going to be sad not having the home and home against the kings to end the season.

That and they aren't going to be hosting the SAP Open anymore iirc.

Man just glimpsing at the schedule, the Sharks get done with Ottawa in the first month of the season. I missed those "odd" type match ups last year (Like the Sharks playing the eastern Canada teams) so I'm happy we're going to get it back this year. At least we get to see the Senators twice in one month.

Eid Ma Clack Shaw 07-19-2013 12:46 PM

So happy to have all the teams come here at least once a season again.

Eid Ma Clack Shaw 07-19-2013 12:47 PM

Whoa, is Metropolitan a real division name?

TheJuxtaposer 07-19-2013 12:56 PM

Not bad.

New Years Eve Party in Anaheim!

Clowe Me 07-19-2013 01:32 PM

They never seem to play on my b-day (12-18), but they play the Blues on the 17th and the Kings on the 19th. Not a bad b-day sandwich.

They are playing on my b-day this year, but in FL. =\

Only 7 National TV games here in the U.S.? That sucks.

8 of the last 10 games are against teams that missed the playoffs last year.

Overall, not too bad. They no longer have the tennis trip since it's in Brazil (???) now.

even if it was at the arena, they wouldn't be going on that trip any ways. pro's of it being an olympic year lol

It's exciting that they'll be playing eastern conference teams again. Not sure how I feel about both my chances to see the Sharks live being day games, though.

rangerssharks414 07-19-2013 02:27 PM

This has nothing to do with the Sharks, but I see the Flyers are on NBC FIVE times! Do they really think they're going to be that good this year? Or are their ratings that good that they're showing them that many times nationally? Even with the NBC timeslot moving to primetime for the most part, they pretty much have no western conference teams (which I predicted... Chicago and St. Louis are the only two). And isn't it branded as the "National" Game of the Week? They're showing 11 different teams for 17 games, and Toronto is only there because of the Winter Classic. /rant

Eid Ma Clack Shaw 07-19-2013 02:28 PM

^ Sadly, this is nothing new.

The whole National TV thing is a joke anyway. Aren't the Penguins on like 26 times. Might as well call it the Sidney Crosby game of the week.

That is the game I have circled since I live in OC. The game is at 5pm so there will be plenty of time after to go party.

Unfortunately... it's all about ratings and who will get the biggest draw. I mean, Buffalo is on three times, I think, and they're in the blow up process (or should be).

I don't think NBC cares how good the Flyers are until playoff time. Having them on nationally will draw more people to watch the network than teams like us. That's why the Blackhawks, Rangers, Penguins, etc. are on nationally a lot because they have big hockey markets. Of course during the playoffs, NBC wants great ratings so they want to see high market teams in the SCF. IIRC, a game in the 2010 SCF between Hawks vs Flyers drew one of the highest ratings ever for NHL.

Ducks game in the afternoon, Disneyland Fireworks at night? That would be a fun evening.

Of course there are probably better (And less costlier) things to do on New Years Eve, but I'm going down there in acouple weeks and currently in a little Disneyland mindset. ;)
