Interesting

WilliamNylander 07-21-2013 08:09 PM

Monohan and Couturier down the middle would be pretty damn sweet

bleedblue1223 07-21-2013 08:10 PM

Probably works value wise.

Coutourier is worth more than that, common

He's worth slightly more than Sven, not significantly more.

Ashasx 07-21-2013 08:17 PM

I would not trade Baertschi for Couturier.

Pass from a Flames fan.

Do you know who Bartschi is?

JB51Hockey 07-21-2013 08:18 PM

I'd accept this trade. I'm not as big on Baertschi as most Flames fans are but he's still one of Calgary's top 3. I don't know if Calgary would go through because Giordano is going to be their captain this year. I would also like a d-man instead of the RW Akeson. Good proposal though.

flyershockey 07-21-2013 08:20 PM

Not bad value wise, but I'm not sure either team for a bunch of reasons.

B A T M A N* 07-21-2013 08:23 PM

Sven>Couts

Riptide 07-21-2013 08:29 PM

Regardless of value, Phily can't really afford to have one of Grossmann or Schenn as the 7th D making 3.5m. In addition to that, they have some serious cap issues, and couldn't afford to add another 4m to the blueline.

Hahahaha Sven is rated the number 10 best prospect in the league by hockeysfuture
:http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospect-rankings/
and is rated the number 8th best nhl prospect by TSN

Couturier: 42pts in 123 games = .34 PPG
Sven 13 points in 25 games = .52 PPG

Im not saying Sven is the superior player based on the stats as it is WAY to early to say but to say couture is worth more than sven and a 3rd is laughable. Sven and Couturier both have a lot of potential. From a flames perspective Id rather keep Sven and have a Sven Monahan line in a few years even though a Couturier Monahan 1-2 punch would be nice. I would rather see a Backlund Gio for Couturier and 2014 2nd

jsylvestre 07-21-2013 08:32 PM

Gotta say I like Sven better than Couturier. Also, Couturier seems more like a winger IMO.

hockeyfreak7 07-21-2013 08:34 PM

Seems like a trade neither side should really be interested in. Calgary shouldn't have need for Couturier with Monahan now. And the Flyers shouldn't be interested in giving up their best defensive forward.

And as an aside, I think it's telling how people view Baertschi as a potential offensive dynamo, but give no respect to Couturier's offensive ability.

Couturier has outscored him in juniors and in the AHL. And yet Baertschi is considered a superior offensive talent because he has 13 points in 25 games playing in a scoring role compared to Couturier's shutdown role on the Flyers. Not saying Couturier will be better offensively, I just think it's interesting when you catch HFboards in a logical error.

djlethal08 07-21-2013 08:36 PM

Philly says no. Not saying the value is wrong, but they aren't looking for someone like Gio. Cap issues aside Philly isn't going to move Couts in a package for a #2 D-man. The Flyers will only look to add a #1, barring that they're looking to drop a d-man, not add.

TheHudlinator 07-21-2013 08:44 PM

Value is decent but with Monahan we are most likely looking for a more offensive center than Couts. I think if we got a player like Grossman back as well (and we added something as well) it would make more sense for both teams.

hockeyguy 07-21-2013 08:45 PM

with the draft next year in philly, it'll take something AMAZING to get philly to move their one

Speaking of error Not sure where you see where he outscored him in the minors as couturiers ppg % is 1.21 where baertschis is 1.58 but yes he did get 2 more points in 1 less game in the AHL. Dont get me wrong flyers are LUCKY to have couturier. I would take him in a second. I see couturier as a toews type player he definately has some scoring touch but he has more of a solid all around game where baertschi is more like kane just a pure offensive player and from the flames perspective we have our own couturier type player in Monahan so based on that i pass

Wiqkid* 07-21-2013 08:53 PM

I think thats a pretty fair trade. I might pull the trigger on it. Gio would be nice to have for when Kimmo is gone. Streit is also up there in age. Sven and Sean are really close in value. I kind of like this trade. gj

bWo 07-21-2013 08:57 PM

as a flames fan i wouldnt do it

kresco 07-21-2013 08:58 PM

But good post you rarely see a post on here that people do not shut down right away overvaluing their players the value is very close.

I should have clarified, I'm comparing Couturier and Baertschi's draft year points. Otherwise it would be unfair considering Couturier didn't get to go back and dominate juniors as a 19 year old like Baerstchi did. That was unclear, my mistake.

But my point is just that people clamor about Baerstchi's offensive ability, but fail to recognize that Couturier has essentially proven just as much in the way of offensive potential. But Couturier's gets written off just because he's been stuck in the 3C shutdown role for the Flyers and unable to produce.
