Not that surprising. He will be trade bait at the deadline

Your avatar makes me want to re-watch the entire Wire series again.

Devilshark 07-22-2013 10:02 AM

Oh boy...

NH57 07-22-2013 10:03 AM

1 year/$4.2m is my guess

Robert Theodorson 07-22-2013 10:03 AM

Ordering my Jagr jersey when I get home

Whether I buy it before or after I throw the Kovalchuk one in the trash is a decision I have a few hours to make.

njdevil26 07-22-2013 10:04 AM

Be careful though with this... we have been hearing that Brunner and Jagr are both about to sign and they are all coming from overseas reporters... we have just been patiently waiting.

the_fan 07-22-2013 10:04 AM

I think Jagr will play for all 30 teams and retire at the age of 60

If they utiilize him right, great addition no matter what the price is.

He'll help big on the PP.

kyle evs48 07-22-2013 10:06 AM

Interested to see what he gets in terms of money.

Honestly, I actually wonder what watching Howe when he was 50 was like to a person who watched him at 25, 30, 35.

I also hope that the Canucks don't get him in year 60 ;)

NJDevils7 07-22-2013 10:07 AM

It will be a one year deal. Jags always goes to whoever gives him the most money.

Honestly there is no reason for the Devils not to sign him. They have like $10mil in cap space for all I care they can sign Jagr to a 1 yr/$10mil contract. Worst case, they trade him at the deadline and get a prospect.

The rate he's going, he should be able to get all 30 in before he turns 50. But if the NHL expands, he might have to push retirement back a bit.

fsanford 07-22-2013 10:07 AM

So what is the average age of this Devils team going to be?

I'm on season four right now lol

No Team Needed 07-22-2013 10:09 AM

He will sign, New Jersey will not be in a playoff spot come trade deadline and New Jersey will trade Jagr to the team he wants to goto. New Jersey will get draft picks, Jagr gets a chance at a Cup.

It's a great strategy.

Best show, and ironically season 4 is the best season.

Not sure but I'm almost positive that they had the highest avg age in the league last year. Although Jagr's is essentially replacing Hedberg in terms of age.

Actually, he's already played for 29 teams, and New Jersey was last on the list and refused to sign him in 2032, so he jumped in the ol' Delorean and came back to the crappy 2013 Devils to complete the run.
