No real surprises too me... but I still say Kane should be there over Lucic.

GJF 07-22-2013 01:24 PM

Good for our Captain :) he earned this for his hard work!

Still doubt he makes the roster after all.

irunthepeg 07-22-2013 01:25 PM

Congrats to the Cap!

Warhead77 07-22-2013 01:25 PM

Awesome!

That's great.

garret9 07-22-2013 01:26 PM

No Jamie Benn was a bigger shock than no Kane but oh wellz

PS Jokinen + Miettinen invited to Finland

ps241 07-22-2013 01:32 PM

You never know..... A Ladd Richards Sharpe 4th line would be interesting.....either way congrats on the invite! :handclap:

cheswick 07-22-2013 01:41 PM

A few years ago I would have said he wouldn't have a chance. But I felt he really stepped up his game this past season and could make it as a 4th liner or an extra forward.

Not at all surprised Kane wasn't selected. Marchand is surprising to me. Overrated imo.

Huffer 07-22-2013 01:47 PM

Benn and Spezza seem like the biggest omissions to me.

Maybe Kane not getting an invite will give him some extra motivation this year.

No Hartnell! Terrific!:handclap:

Mathmew Purrrr Oh 07-22-2013 02:17 PM

I'm sure Marchand and the IIHF reffing would get along swimmingly :)

I said exactly that to my Bruin homer brother (and he agreed)

you look at someone funny and its a penalty

Marchand would be rendered useless since he cant take stupid cheap shots at people after the whistle

Guardian17 07-22-2013 02:48 PM

Congratulations to Andrew Ladd!

Can players who were not invited to the camp still be named to the team if they play well early in the season?

Jets 07-22-2013 03:19 PM

Richards - Toews - Bergeron will be the shutdown line so he may be in tough.

wpgsilver 07-22-2013 06:37 PM

A little surprised Kane didn't even get an invite.
Good for Ladd though!

KingBogo 07-22-2013 07:24 PM

Congratulations to Ladd. It would be absolutely fabulous to have a Jet on the Olympic team.

peter sullivan 07-22-2013 10:42 PM

I like Kane, but i think you overvalue him. I'd certainly rather have Lucic on my NHL team. And i don't think either of them are a great fit for the international game.

I actually think Marchand "the hockey player" is underrated.
People don't look past his pest role to see that he is a pretty damn good hockey player.

I do hate him though lol.

I might be different but I'd choose Kane.

Who's better in the NHL is pretty irrelevant when talking about the Olympics. The big ice real changes the game. I would agree Lucic isn't a great fit for international play, but I don't see how Kane wouldn't be a great fit. Style wise I think his game is well suited to big ice. His speed could be a game changer, and getting pucks to the net on goalies who aren't used to the different angles is never a bad thing.

Huffer 07-23-2013 12:33 PM

Before Lucic had a good playoffs, he was terrible, and Bruins fans would have tripped over themselves to trade him for Kane.

Maybe, but Kane didn't exactly flourish on the big ice during his stint in the KHL.

Maybe that's one of the reasons he didn't even get an invite :dunno:
