Trade Proposal Thread

Yotes fan coming in peace. Reposting a trade from the main board that I think would fit both sides's needs nicely:

To PHX: Brian Gionta with 2M salary retained
To MTL: Rostislav Klesla, 2014 3rd, 2015 5th

Yotes get a veteran scoring winger to pair with Ribiero, while the Habs get a veteran, physical shutdown defenseman that can play either side. Draft picks are a sweetener to ensure the trade remains salary neutral (absolutely necessary for us).

Thoughts?

I don't think you'll get too much opposition around here to a deal like that. Works for me, at least.

NH57 07-25-2013 11:56 AM

I think it works well for both sides, I'd take it.

CrAzYNiNe 07-25-2013 11:56 AM

I don't see it happening, but I think I would be ok with this. Gionta can still put up good numbers, but I do not believe he will be kept beyond next season.

Klesla would be an upgrade for our top 4, with Emelin out. He is also a UFA at seasons end, the picks make it very interesting.

IceDaddy 07-25-2013 11:56 AM

Done!

HatTricK09 07-25-2013 11:56 AM

I'll do this. Where do I sign?

BigDaddyLurch 07-25-2013 11:57 AM

Does Gionta need a ride to the airport???...cuz I can make myself available...

AJMHABS 07-25-2013 12:00 PM

I would do this deal. Trade away a smurf for some defensive depth.

IPreferPi 07-25-2013 12:01 PM

Well, that was easy, lol. Know Gionta's NTC is a complicating issue, but the Yotes ownership has been settled (for now at least) and he'd be getting top line + PP time with Ribiero. Hopefully that'd be enough to waive.

Thanks all!

Chris Cutter 07-25-2013 12:05 PM

I would do this deal since it ACTUALLY fills a need rather than just obsessing over the lack of size in our line-up (see whoever proposed Steve Bernier for Gionta).

thaivuN 07-25-2013 12:06 PM

switch Gionta for Briere and I'm happy XD

dreamingofdrouin* 07-25-2013 12:08 PM

yup:)

Make the CALL dude..

I love klesla.

I will personally drive Gionta to the closest Uniprix and ship him to Phoenix.

beaverBFP 07-25-2013 12:12 PM

I approve, where do I sign?

HiggsBozon 07-25-2013 12:16 PM

Yes yes yes yes yes...

Yes please.

Scotianhab 07-25-2013 12:18 PM

Done deal!

Very good deal for both sides.

overlords 07-25-2013 12:18 PM

Oh, but I seriously doubt gionta waives his NTC to go to a dump like Phoenix.

jwolf 07-25-2013 12:19 PM

Done! Now can I interest you in a diminutive center??

YMCMBeaulieu 07-25-2013 12:26 PM

I'd even do it without taking the picks back, Klesla would be an awesome addition.

JHabs 07-25-2013 12:27 PM

Hate to see the captain go but gladly do this deal

Absolutely no way. Gionta is a 25-30 goals' scorer since signing in Montreal and he's the team captain. Further, he only has one year left to his contract. In addition, Montreal has Subban, Markov, Diaz, Gorges, Bouillon, Tinordi, Drewiske and Emelin on defense right now. Thanks but no thanks.

Roulin 07-25-2013 12:30 PM

Nice proposal. Like others have pointed out, the issue is the NTC... nothing against Phoenix, but Gionta has spent his whole life in the northeast part of the continent and his family is here, I'd bet against him waiving... but, who knows, maybe he's sick of winter?

Klesla becomes the 4th best defenseman on the habs roster. Who cares about the number of D. The more nhl ready D in the system, the better. If drew gets picked up off waivers, so be it
