Cgy - edm

Just pretend they are not division rivals,:sarcasm: would help both teams EDM trying to make the next step and the flames stockpile more solid pieces for rebuild.

To EDM

Glencross
Bouma

To CGY

2014 1st rounder
Lander
Musil

I think EDM would be the only place Glencross would waive to go to, he gets to still stay close to the ranch in AB. He is exactly the player Edmonton needs in their middle 6, Bouma could develop into a solid 4th line center. Calgary gets a top 20 pick that is likely a lottery pick, a center who better fits with CGY future needs and is NHL ready, and a D-prospect who would be one of their top 3 D prospects for sure.

InfinityIggy 07-29-2013 12:10 PM

Glencross won't waive but its an interesting offer.

herashak 07-29-2013 12:31 PM

take out bouma/ lander and its good

Kulleroinen* 07-29-2013 12:36 PM

Glencross is something we could use, but the price is too steep.

OnTheBrink 07-29-2013 12:36 PM

I would still do that.

A top 9 of;

Hall - RNH - Eberle
Perron - Gags - Yak
Glencross -Gordon - Hemsky

would look pretty damn strong.

Plus Glencross can easily be substituted into the top 6 as needed.

SaintMorose 07-29-2013 12:39 PM

I was under the impression Glencross left Edmonton because he saw no chance to gain top 6 ice time (they made it clear his role was bottom 6).

Now with Hall, Eberle, Hemsky, Yakupov, Perron playing Wing where does he fit in?
If Perron is playing 3rd line minutes and Hemsky is gone you might have a spot until then I doubt MacT can talk Glencross into considering a move back.

That said hard to ignore giving a division rival you're best forward of the last 2 years I wouldn't do it.

I think Edmonton would still have to truly overpay due to the divisional rivalry and owing to the fact that Glencross is a versatile winger on a fantastic contract.

Edmonton would probably have to take Glencross as-is, no Bouma, with the 1st, Musil, and Lander all together.

Alternatively:

Glencross
Jackman

for

2014 1st round pick
Anton Lander
David Musil

Mainly because Jackman has no value to Calgary but he might have value to the Oilers and it helps make the trade more balanced even though in these circumstances it's not needed to be.

OnTheBrink 07-29-2013 12:52 PM

2014 1st + Musil + 4th rounder would be about max offer.

Perro 07-29-2013 12:53 PM

I kinda like this deal.

CP would have a field day with this!

"HOHOHOHO FEASTER GOT A TOP 5 PICK FOR GLENCROSS!! HOHOHOHO"

SmellOfVictory 07-29-2013 12:58 PM

Value-wise, I like it. And if there was a team he'd waive to go to, it would be Edmonton (still not sure if he would, though).

Noori 07-29-2013 01:06 PM

Interesting. I'm confused as to how I feel about it so it's probably fair value. And I'm pretty sure Glencross would waive to go to Edmonton.

If we traded Glenx* id be happy with that return. Having said that I just can't see him getting moved unless something changes and he wants out.

I am wagering with Glencross on the Oilers the pick would be more in the 10-20 range. still more then they got for Iggy or Bou.

Jackman doesn't do much for me, not much for hockey sense or puck skills, sure will drop the gloves but getting face punched in doesn't help team much.

will give mid round pick instead of Lander, if Bouma is not coming back. EDM needs a center coming if one is going.

The Oilers did not even offer him a contract after his great half-season there because they were saving the cap space to take a run at Hossa, which they did but not successfully. Worst decision Kevin Lowe ever made in my humble opinion.

Overpayment by Edmonton. I am suprised an Oilers Fan made this proposal

It's Edmonton gearing up to make a push for some deep playoff success. Glencross would fits a need for the Oilers and has an amazing contract that includes a NMC - and Edmonton is likely one of the only, if not THE only place he would waive to go to.

Glencross + his contract is worth a pick in the 15-25 range - especially given what happened in free agency this summer with Clarkson, and Glencross is significantly better than Clarkson and makes a lot less per year.

OnTheBrink 07-29-2013 01:40 PM

Agree with above. well said.

Very true, add in the fact we are divisional rivals who have NEVER made a substantial trade, and OP and a couple other proposals in this thread actually seem spot on.

belair 07-29-2013 01:53 PM

Feasterize this deal and I could get on board...

:edmonton
Curtis Glencross

:flames
Nick Schultzowski
2014 3rd Round Pick

topchowda 07-29-2013 01:58 PM

I would do the 2014 1st + Musil.

Oilers need the depth on forward right now. And with the depth of D prospects, Musil is expendable.

For the Flames, it opens up a spot for a younger guy, they get another 1st to help the rebuild and a good prospect. However losing a proven NHL forward would likely ensure a spot in the bottom 3, which is either good or bad depending on how you look at it. (Bad for the present, better for the future to get an Eklbad type player)

Musil- Brodie D pairing in 3 years would be good

Trafalgar Law 07-29-2013 02:04 PM

I'd prefer to give the 2015 1st instead. The Oilers could very well be picking top 10 again this season, and that's too much a price for Glencross.

dss97 07-29-2013 02:13 PM

I'd do this trade. I still facepalm every once in a while when I think about letting Glencross walk.

That's a hell of a top 9.
