Foster may be a pylon, but a lot of that has to do with his terrible luck getting that injury.

He sure had a different career if he could've stayed healthy.

Flying 07-30-2013 07:43 AM

i can't imagine foster doing that well on bigger ice if he had trouble keeping up with everyone with the flyers in a smaller rink

guess tim brent couldn't find a one-way contract, which is a bummer, i liked him.

True, although I don't think he would have been a 15 year regular or anything. I don't think it changed too much. He is kind of one dimensional.

McManked 07-30-2013 07:56 AM

I don't know. He put up 10 goals in 58 games as a rookie. Not bad. I think he could've been a solid #4 D.

fahad203 07-30-2013 07:58 AM

I am surprised Tim Brent couldn't land a spot with a NHL team. He could have been a good replacement for Armstrong in Montreal.

I remember that one shift against the Bruins, where he blocked Chara's shot.

His team, Medvescak, plays on an NHL rink, so he'll play at least half of all games on smaller surface.

BonMorrison 07-30-2013 08:07 AM

Surprised about Brent. He was fantastic as as Leaf and from what I understand, was pretty good as a Cane as well. Absolutely beast PK player.

There are non-conforming rink sizes in the KHL?

Didn't know that.

they are an expansion team so maybe they did before and will have to change now

medvescak are really going to be allowed to play on an NHL surface while everyone else plays with a different rink size???

MastuhNinks 07-30-2013 09:05 AM

Two players whose biggest weakness is skating, kinda odd that they'd move to big ice.

I absolutely loved Tim Brent as a Leaf though, hopefully he finds his way over there.

In OHL, Belleville plays on the Euro ice. In SM-Liiga, teams are allowed to choose from 3 options. Not uncommon at all. Admiral Vladivostok will play on the NHL-sized rink as well. Could be a sign more teams move to the smaller rinks soon.

Engebretson 07-30-2013 09:25 AM

I liked Foster in both his stints with the Wild, but the second stint was more nostalgia than anything he accomplished on the ice.

Best of luck to him in the KHL.

Roboturner913 07-30-2013 09:55 AM

Brent's problem is he doesn't give you enough offense to play on a third line, but he's a little too finesse to play on a traditional fourth line.

Still I'm a little surprised he didn't sign somewhere like Phoenix where his defensive/faceoff abilities are more in line with the style of play.

Chris Cutter 07-30-2013 11:49 AM

Surprised Brent wasn't able to find work elsewhere, good bottom 6 player to have.

Turrican* 07-30-2013 11:53 AM

Another former Oiler goes to the KHL.
Our supporting players in the past few years have been so bad.

He was surprisingly solid during his stint in Finland. I actually thought he would've been good 3rd pairing D in the NHL after the lockout ended but i guess not.

Schenn 07-30-2013 12:00 PM

First Kovalchuk, now Brent and Foster. What is this world coming too!?! :shakeheadd

Dangles McGavin 07-30-2013 12:00 PM

How the hell could Tim Brent not find a job?

He's an awesome 4th liner, loved him on the Leafs.

Wont be long until Yakupov hops over too.

Because he wasn't an awesome 4th liner for the Canes? And now he's a 30-year old that's competing for a position with AHLers that are likely younger/cheaper than he is.

It's really no surprise. These kind of players are the ones that were most hurt by the last lockout.

BigDaddyLurch 07-30-2013 12:14 PM

I'd have taken Tim Brent for around 1 mill to centre the Habs 4th line...couldn't believe the Leafs let him go when they did...that PK a couple years ago where he got the standing ovation from the Air Canada Centre after blocking like 4 or 5 shots in a row and then clearing the puck outta the zone was epic; gave me goosebumps...;)
