Zadorov, add Flynn I suppose

jBuds 08-04-2013 02:14 PM

I give Zadorov the edge over Pysyk slightly.

Like I said in the last thread... Zadorov's ceiling is higher, and though Pysyk (IMO) is more likely to hit his ceiling, AND under the notion Mark's ceiling isn't miles and miles behind Nikita's, I'm still giving Zadorov the slight, slight edge.

Add Makarov

Pisser.

His combination of skating and IQ is tops, and I think he's got a reasonably high shot at being an effective shutdown defenseman. I'll say he'll jump up "asset" lists by midseason.

Zadorov again, as I've mentioned in a previous poll, I see him as the most talented Russian defender since Konstantinov.

Add Makarov.

Zadarov; I expect poll 6 to be the most lopsided poll of the entire set. Add Flynn

Pysyk with a slight edge over Zadorov. I'll just copy my reasoning from the previous thread:

I almost always go with potential over the likelihood of reaching said potential/NHL-readiness in these kind of polls, but I think I'd have to go with Pysyk in this one. His ceiling might be a little lower than Zadorovs but the fact that his development has come along so nicely so far and that he is a really safe option at the moment while still having so much more room to grow as a player is something I can't pass up. And I love Zadorov as a prospect (and I expect him to win in the poll btw).

Add Flynn, again.

This is one of those potential vs. reaching it type debates. What I said in the last thread when the topic came up:

Zadorov is going to have an opportunity this year to be first-pairing, all-situations with the Knights. Given how his game was coming on offensively to end the year, particularly by the OHL finals and into the Memorial Cup, progress from that point would be steller. He has #1D potential already and a great opportunity to get high-quality minutes on one of the best development teams in the CHL who also happen to be hosting this year's Memorial Cup. Add in the WJC's, he's got a path that could very well be akin to the rapid development cycle that Myers went through in his post-draft season. The opportunity is there. I don't see that potential #1 D position in Pysyk, as much as I like Mark's game, and that makes Zardorov tight to the pack with the likes of the other top 5, above that next tier of quality prospects that includes Pysyk, Compher, McCabe, Larsson and McNabb.

I have him higher than Pysyk based on his potential. Pysyk is a fine choice and next for me, love his heady game, stick and feet skills -- his head for the game is just great.

Im a big fan of Pysyk's game but I voted for the higher potential in Zadorov. Add Flynn.
