Blues Prospect Rankings #13

1) Tarasenko
2) Schwartz
3) Rattie
4) Allen
5) Jaskin
6) Carrier
7) Hakanpaa
8) Schmaltz
9) Edmundson
10) Binnington
11) Vannelli
12) Kurker

Veilleux again for me.

I've never really been a fan of rigid prospect criteria in these threads. We're looking to generate discussion with this series, and things like age/failure to come over/etc. are simply different facets of what makes one prospect better than another. If we were attempting to "standardize" our rankings against those of various other teams, then that would be a different story...but we're not.

BlueDream 08-09-2013 09:32 PM

Yeah, Veillieux. He has some grit and could be a solid bottom 6'er.

Bluesnatic27 08-09-2013 09:47 PM

I'm feeling Veilleux, Lundstrom, and Parayko. But I kind of want To throw Gardiner's name in mix if he has another good season at Penn and same with MacEachern with Michigan State. Both are some decently sized centres that I think could still be some solid prospects.

Robb_K 08-09-2013 10:24 PM

Too much uncertainty in the future of ALL the remaining prospects. I went with Lehterä (despite the fact that almost everyone on this poll will not vote for him at all).

Daley Tarasenkshow 08-09-2013 10:36 PM

Veilleux, then Parayko, then Lundstorm, then Beach.

I'll stack the ballot box for Veillieux as well. Unlike Lundstrom, I've actually seen him play a little bit.
I like how he seems to stand out on his teams

CarvinSigX 08-09-2013 10:48 PM

If I have to include Lehtera, I'm going with...

Veilleux...Again, as I think he has a good chance of becoming an NHL regular. Not a top 6 guy, but he may end up being a pretty good 3rd liner if all goes right. Worst case, I see him as a tweener for a few years until he carves out a role as a 4th line PK specialist with some offense to boot.

HooliganX2 08-09-2013 11:04 PM

MacEachern or no real good reason lol.

Daley Tarasenkshow 08-09-2013 11:42 PM

Everyone on this list except Fairchild, Ponich, Wannstrom, Lehtera, Mcrae, and Grachev are all very close and it's honestly up in the air.

What I'm saying is it will be very hard to see the differences between prospects unless they are playing in the AHL. We've see star CHL players bust in the AHL, and we've seen players like Shea Weber do decent in juniors yet outstanding in the NHL. Some will get worse, some better, some stay the pace.

We all seem to have a rough idea of the sketching over the next few votes, I just think the future is a crapshoot for anyone this low. I have my views as listed in an above post, but everyone else could and probably thinks differently. it's almost preference in a way.

Went with Parayko with Veilleux and Lundstrom right behind him. How much longer until Lehtera is too old to be considered a prospect?

MattyMo35 08-10-2013 01:26 AM

Veilleux for me.

JustOneB4IDie 08-10-2013 05:49 AM

Uh, Uh, Veilleux.

And down to the suspects instead of prospects indeed.

Sticking with Fairchild. I still think way too many are writing him off due to one bad season. And if his bad season was because he got lazy and didn't work hard enough or showed some sort of major flaw, I'd write him off too but his bad season was because of injuries. I'm hoping to see a bounceback season from him.

I think Parayko is equally being underrated here as well. I would not be surprised if he shoots up these lists like Hakanpaa did. He's 6'4", played a very important role as a freshman and put up about a half point per game as a d-man.

Veillieux also had a good season in the Q. He and Lundstrom are in the same grouping for me too. I'm also still pretty high on Tesink.

Those are my next 4 as well.

Andronov should start getting some love here soon. Yes, he's Russian, but he's good defensively, physical, fast, with third line upside. He's like a Russian Paajarvi who hasn't gotten a chance to prove himself yet.

PocketNines 08-10-2013 01:46 PM

Fairchild.

EastonBlues22 08-12-2013 01:11 AM

Veilleux way out in front, but I'm going to give the poll one more day to try to garner a few more votes since we haven't even cracked 40 yet.

Dolph Ziggler 08-12-2013 02:47 AM

I voted for Veilleux as well, but I think Fairchild should be getting more attention. One injury season shouldn't write him off yet IMO

This thread hasn't even reached 20 yet

Celtic Note 08-12-2013 08:33 AM

I am surprised Veilleux has such a commanding lead. I thought this would be much closer.

With that said, Fairchild, Lundstrom, Beach, and Parayko are all in consideration for my next few votes.

STLBLUES44 08-12-2013 02:59 PM

voted Parayko... watched him play agianst miami this year and he was the best player on the ice for alaska every shift... a dominant dman.

Stealth JD 08-12-2013 08:29 PM

Lindbohm...for the forseeable future.
