2013 Traverse City Tournament Thread (9/5-9/9)

I know the wild usually announce some invites from the TC rookie tournament roster here are the ones announced so far for the TC Tournament

LW Olivier Archambault - 2012-2013 Drummondville/Hamilton (AHL)

D - Alex Basso - Sarnia (OHL)
D - Jason Beattie - Niagara (AHA)/Rochester (OHL)

D - Cody Corbett - Edmonton (WHL)

With those invited above heres where our potenial Tournament roster sits, mind its just a guess right now don't know who will actually be on it..

F - Nino (?) due to him having 2 pro seasons not sure what the rules are, Granlund, Coyle, Haula, Phillips, Graovac, Bulmer, Zucker, Bussieres, Archambault, Dieno, Everson, Heffley, Jones, Sandlak, Walker, Koules
D - Brodin, Dumba, Jobke, Caron, Krupp, Baldwin, Basso, Beattie, Corbett

They already released the roster like on Wednesday I saw it a link on the Wild twitter. Haula, Phillips, Bulmer, Dumba and Gustafsson were the only big names I saw.

I hope the NHL Network airs some games up like they have in years past.

Russo did an article about it today
Quote:

Matt Dumba, Erik Haula, Zack Phillips, Brett Bulmer and several other Wild prospects are in Traverse City, Mich., today through Monday to play in a prospects tournament with Dallas, Detroit, St. Louis, Buffalo, Carolina, Columbus and the Rangers.

The Wild plays Detroit tonight, St. Louis on Friday, Dallas on Sunday afternoon. On Monday will be the 7th- and 5th-place games, the consolation game and the championship game. As far as I know, these games can't be seen on TV, radio or the Interweb, but I'll try to keep half an eyeball on it.

It should be a good tournament for the Wild. It'll be interesting to see how players like Dumba and Haula do -- two players that have shots at cracking the Wild's 23-man roster out of training camp. The Wild hopes to see vast improvement from Bulmer and Phillips this month as both are considered still big parts of the Wild future and hopefully callup material this year.

Other prospects in this tournament turning pro and Iowa bound this season include Raphael Bussieres, Johan Gustafsson and Tyler Graovac. The Wild will also decide this month whether to sign Kurtis Gabriel and have him start his pro career in Iowa or return him to Owen Sound for his overrage year.
He talks about some Wild stuff in general as well.

Just looking at Detroits roster that we play today besides Riley Sheahan and Martin Frk, Tvrdon, jurco there isnt much players that really jump out at me as far as impact players for the detroit team so i could see our boys coming out with a win tonight...

One Traverse City #mnwild update: Brett Bulmer has stayed in MIN to continue to rehab knee injury; also didn't partake in July dev. camp

looking at the pregame im surprised at how many of our prospects are over 210 lbs... currently ahve 7 on our roster... hopefully they can throw their weight around cleanly and not get too many penalties...

Wished either the Wild or NHL Network carried this because it's not like the network owned by the league shuts down for 2 months and has less original programming than some individuals.

HamiltonOHL 09-05-2013 02:52 PM

looking at all of the rosters i think the only team that can give us a run for our money is the Buffalo sabres rosters

HamiltonOHL 09-05-2013 03:59 PM

just think had we not acquired Pominville we could of had larsson and our 1st playing for our team as well so we would of been a heavy favorite to win this yr

HamiltonOHL 09-05-2013 05:59 PM

Minnesota Wild (Johan Gustafsson) vs Detroit Redwings (Jake Paterson) are the goalies tonight

rynryn 09-05-2013 06:18 PM

thanks man

HamiltonOHL 09-05-2013 06:24 PM

I wonder how toughness Kurtis Gabriel does tonight and if he eventually earns a contract of if he goes to Owen sound for overage season

HamiltonOHL 09-05-2013 06:31 PM

Wild line lines are Jones-Haula-Koules line 2 - Bussieres-Phillips-Dieno and on D Dumba paired with Corbett

melinko 09-05-2013 06:36 PM

Any radio for the game?

the organization expects he'll play big. not that they are pushing him that direction but they suspect he'll want to make an impression.
