Marcus Johansson could be traded

8. WASHINGTON CAPITALSThe Capitals still have yet to re-sign Swedish forward Marcus Johansson, a restricted free agent. There are rumblings the club is looking to trade the 22-year-old, who spent most of 2013 at left wing alongside Nicklas Backstrom and captain Alex Ovechkin. A resolution should occur before the start of training camp next month. One player who is scheduled to attend Caps camp this year on a tryout basis is 19-year-old forward Nathan Walker, considered by many to be the best Australian hockey player ever produced by that continent.

Tanev for him straight up :sarcasm:

IPreferPi 08-12-2013 05:27 PM

If this rumor has any legs to it at all, I hope Maloney makes an aggressive play for MoJo.

Man Bear Pig 08-12-2013 05:29 PM

I came in to read about Johansson and stayed for the Australian hockey player part.

Me too, I hope he makes the big show just for the sheer novelty of it.

On topic, where would MoJo end up? Also is he a winger now, or is he a center?

Robert Theodorson 08-12-2013 05:52 PM

It's not like George McPhee to just trade away highly drafted Swedish talent, keep dreaming.

lakai17 08-12-2013 05:53 PM

Then what's the center depth in Washington?

LAK1ngs 08-12-2013 05:54 PM

The Kings will offer Washington Jeff Schultz. ;-)

Hes been playing wing, but it was Backstrom, Riberio, Perrault, Beagle but I'd assume if hes traded we'd sign Grabo then have Nicky, Grabo, Perault an Beagle

Didact 08-12-2013 05:56 PM

I see what you did there.

BigDaddyLurch 08-12-2013 06:07 PM

PETRYDISH 08-12-2013 06:12 PM

Oilers could really use him

SashaSemin28 08-12-2013 06:18 PM

I would be so mad if this happened.

Carlzner 08-12-2013 06:22 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to trade him for a Top 4 LHD, sign Grabo and move Laich to 1LW. Could also explain why Grabo is still unsigned.

Johnny Hoxville 08-12-2013 06:24 PM

Flames are interested.

Hivemind 08-12-2013 06:34 PM

I'm not buying it.

Same as it is now. Backstrom-Laich-Perreault-Beagle

Lord Flacko* 08-12-2013 06:36 PM

What do you guys want from the Canucks for him?

Top 4 veteran LHD. So unless you're inexplicably willing to give us Hamhuis, Edler, or Garrison for him, I don't see a deal to be made.

SherVaughn30 08-12-2013 06:44 PM

MarJoke is a good player to trade for if your team DOESN'T regularly make the playoffs, DOESN'T need a forward who can finish, DOESN'T need a forward who can check, DOESN'T need a forward who has good puck possession and you DON'T want your team GM to get a fair deal in return.

MarJoke's strengths: Fast skater, good in open OLYMPIC ice space(oops, this is the NHL) and good chemistry with only Swedish players.

I would like to point out rule #1 of the George McPhee Club, 1st round draft picks(who have already played in the lineup) are never traded because they are overvalued and they are held in high regard(revenue machine) by the owner, Ted "Raisin, Once A Big Fat Plump Grape" Leonsis.

P.S. - I am a Caps fan.

Appropriate time to resurrect talks involving Klesla ;-)

Klesla + 2nd + a conditional mid-rounder (if Klesla doesn't resign) for MoJo .

Sloth Slothersons* 08-12-2013 06:48 PM

I would probably be willing to deal Hemsky for him straight up

What kind of deal gets MoJo under contract and how does it affect our signing Boedker? Would they require similar deals?

tim 08-12-2013 06:50 PM

Purely speculation based on the Caps' speculated interest in Grabovski and the cap room they may or may not need to make, speculatively.

TheHudlinator 08-12-2013 06:51 PM

Stempniak + Butler?
