Islanders Florida Trip January 2014

Anyone planning on going to the @Panthers Jan 14 and/or @Lightning Jan 16?

A couple of buddies and myself are thinking of attending the florida away trip for the first time this year. Might be fun to invade a bar pre/post game.

If the annual Dad's trip is during the same time, that would be an extra bonus to possibly meet some of the dads and players... possibly on the golf courses in the area. Might be cool to play some golf during the day and catch a game in at night.

Quiet a few Isles fans go to the Tampa Bay Times Forum. Surprised me the first time how good the Isles turnout was.

Not doing Florida, but I am heading down to Carolina to see them play on 11/7. A good friend just moved down to Charlotte, so I'm using that as an excuse to go on a hockey road trip. If all goes well, we'll be heading up to Columbus to see them play there on 11/9.

I was thinking of doing exactly this and heading down to Florida in January to see both games. I want to eventually see every arena and the isles playing down there during winter break makes it the perfect timing.

LOL that would be pretty cool to bump into them at the bar or being backed up on a par 3 on the links

Flights on Jet Blue to Ft Lauderdale and Miami are pretty cheap now too. I'm not quite at the pull the trigger stage but the total airfare should come in around $250 or less

Being that my wife is Tampa, I fly down 3-4 times a year and always schedule it around to catch a Bolts/Isles game. Never been to Miami but I do recommend to everyone to visit the St.Pete Forum. Great atmosphere, Great Isles fan turns outs and the Bolts fans are pretty cool people themselves. Outside there are events and you can drink beer out in the open. They did a great job renovating the place

I've been to Columbus on business and thought it would probably be a fun town to see an Isles game in.

Good to know, thanks. That one is not definite as it's an 8 hour drive from Charlotte, but we're going to go if at all possible.

well I'm not sure if Columbus is worth an 8 hour drive, really depends on what you like. It's a small sleepy town with a good college vibe to it.

I'd be going more for the game than anything else. 8 hours from Charlotte is a hell of a lot closer than whatever it would be from NY, so I figure I'd take advantage of the close proximity of the two towns (if you could call it that).

Keep me in the loop about getting tickets and what not.

My brother moved down to Raleigh for work and was there last year when the Isles clinched! He said it was a great atmosphere with very good, cheap tickets.
