UB and General College Football Talk

Unreal turn of events. 30-20 OSU with the Ohio State starting QB out with cramps. Backup QB running for his life on next play, fumbles and UB recovers in Ohio States 1 yard line. Should be able to pound it in to make it 30-27 but its called back on an illegal hands to the face call.

OSU gets the ball back and a 15 yard penalty. Then they drive down and score making it 37-20.

Damn damn damn.

PlamsUnlimited 08-31-2013 01:59 PM

Last play was awful. Could've been 27. 40 yard run now.

I heard Khalil Mack is impressing some people.

He is.

He was the one with the penalty that cause the swing in momentum. :(

Hey guess what's more depressing

having a 17-7 lead as an FCS team on the road against a perennial top-40 team and then getting shut out in the second half to lose by a touchdown

Depressing? I find familiarity to be comforting

BUFFALO SPORTS! WOOOOOO

PlamsUnlimited 08-31-2013 02:58 PM

UB football is pretty bad :(

Top Pair Imposter 08-31-2013 03:19 PM

This was actually the opposite of bad considering Ohio State is a national title game favorite

sabresfan129103 08-31-2013 03:31 PM

I thought Ohio state was going to put up 70. I'm happy with how this ended up. UB represented themselves well.

Shoey 08-31-2013 03:38 PM

It's actually pretty remarkable that UB was able to hang at all. This could be indicative that this might be a bowl team.

stokes84 08-31-2013 03:49 PM

Licata is a really good QB. They look like they can have a good season.

msm29 08-31-2013 05:35 PM

Mack's final stats: 9.5 tackles, 2.5 sacks and an interception, which he returned for a touchdown. Not bad against what should be a top-5 team.

New Sabres Captain 08-31-2013 06:29 PM

If Mack has a good season, he could very well sneak into the 1st round of the draft.

PlamsUnlimited 08-31-2013 06:42 PM

That'd be cool to see guys from UB make it. Didn't Florence come outta here?

James Starks is the most productive player to come out of UB since the team returned to D-I, with CB Josh Thomas in 2nd place.

I enjoyed the game. UB did well for themselves. Hoping for a good season from them.

As a local guy and a UB graduate - I HATE that they have "rebranded" themselves the New York Bulls.

That is total bullsh!t, IMO

PlamsUnlimited 08-31-2013 09:14 PM

I'm outraged by it too. We are UB. not the New York bulls. The basketball floor is nonsense too in alumni.

That's impressive considering he's the guy OSU would be scheming to stop.

Barring a bad season, he's definitely a first rounder.

But he was also the one that sacked the QB and caused the fumble on that play, so maybe if he doesn't commit the penalty to get around his blocker, then the sack and fumble doesn't happen anyway.

Maybe. A tough break for guy having a great game.

I had a conversation about this very topic on my facebook page. It is sickening and a slap to the face of the City of Buffalo. Change their acronym from UB to SUNYAB if you want to be more NY. NO team will ever usurp Syracuse football as the state's nationally known team. This is just pathetic.

PlamsUnlimited 09-01-2013 02:06 PM

I have an idea. How about make it UB

Shoey 09-01-2013 10:44 PM

I hate the big "NEW YORK" branding on the front of the jersey too, hopefully they get enough backlash to change it next season.

Maybe, but I think he'll go in the second or 3rd round.
