hope he makes it

guy has wheels

Dvorak is ancient. I don't think I noticed his play at all last season. Any insight from anyone? I'm guessing he can only help on the PK and play on the 4th line at this point in his career?

(Just noticed he is 36. Not really "ancient" but there are miles on those tires since his draft year.)

Vankiller Whale 09-03-2013 02:56 PM

Wow, I hadn't even realized he was still playing, but looking at hockeydb he had 4 goals in 9 games this year, which is pretty solid.

Canadian Canuck 09-03-2013 03:10 PM

750k would be a solid pick up

tarheelhockey 09-03-2013 03:49 PM

The Hurricanes' bottom-6 situation going into camp is interesting. There are a lot of players in the mix, and almost all of them are borderline NHL'ers. A guy like Dvorak would have a great shot at stepping in and securing a spot over some of these rookies and journeymen.

At this point it's still hard to predict what our opening night roster will look like.

gudzilla 09-03-2013 04:22 PM

dvorak is still an effective bottom 6 player with some offensive touch and good PKing

Hampe 09-03-2013 04:30 PM

Hopefully he makes it. He was pretty good for us last year.

Exit Dose 09-03-2013 04:39 PM

Dvorak looked pretty solid in his time with us. I'm a little surprised that he didn't get more opportunities to play.

TheOllieC 09-03-2013 04:52 PM

I would rather have him than Westgarth or Welsh

i was hoping that like Moore, he would come back to the Rangers... always liked his game. would be more useful than Powe or Pyatt on the roster :help:

He's still playing? Could have sworn I played with him on NHL 97 on Sega.

Yes, he is.

Thank god it's an eastern team. I think he scored like all his goals against the Oilers last season

donghabs98 09-03-2013 06:53 PM

I hope he makes it. When the ducks picked him up last year I thought he was finished but clearly he still has what it takes to be in the league

Aceonfire* 09-03-2013 07:08 PM

He will score 2 goals this year and both will be against the Oilers.

12ozPapa 09-03-2013 07:12 PM

He was pretty good in a bottom 6 role during his short time with the Ducks. I had hoped he'd play more or come back on a cheap contract. All the best to the "old timer".

Dvorak had 4 goals last season, 3 against Edmonton...7 of his 17 SOG last season as well. It's interesting how some guys are just on against certain teams.

For Carolina, I think it's a smart move b/c he will not command much $ if he does get a contract out of camp. Additionally, it will increase competition in the bottom 6 spots and hopefully bring out the best in whoever makes the team in those roles. He could kill penalties and score an odd goal here and there.

vipernsx 09-04-2013 01:46 PM

If Carolina is inviting Dvorak to camp, it must be because the other UFAs out there won't go to a camp without a contract. There are much better options out there still which includes Chad Larose and that's more a statement about Dvorak than it use Larose.

Too bad he didn't play that well when he was with Edmonton.

mightyquack 09-04-2013 02:40 PM

He looked decent in limited showings in Anaheim last season I thought, if we didn't habe an overload of NHL wingers right now, he'd probably still be in Anaheim as a 4th line / 13th forward.

Dvorak > LaRose, even if Dvorak isn't signed.

With that said, it seems as if Dvorak pooped in your Corn Flakes once upon a time.

Paul4587 09-04-2013 08:09 PM

He can still play. Decent bottom 6 depth, can PK, is reliable defensively, has decent hands and was still mobile last year. A bit on the small side but the pros outweigh the cons if he's used correctly.

Gliff 09-04-2013 08:29 PM

Great guy. Hopefully he gets a spot.

And it seems like LaRose ran over your dog.
