The isles should offer bryzgalov a 1 year contract

It is typical islander signing, formerly a great player, went to a new team or just lost their confidence and struggled mightily and is given another chance on a low risk high reward contract

also goalies are always bad in philly and better just about anywhere else,

bryz always had a save percentage hovering around .910 and then he went to philly and was bad, bobrovsky's save percentage increased directly after he left philly, philly just puts way too much pressure on their goalies and bryz is still capable of being an nhl starter

islanderfan64 09-04-2013 04:23 PM

I'd rather just give him a camp invite.

TOML 09-04-2013 04:24 PM

Is Bryz sumo?

No go.

orby 09-04-2013 04:26 PM

Bryz does poorly in cities with a demanding media. I seriously doubt he'd be a pleasant guy to have around the locker room and I don't think he's given any real indication in the past two seasons that he can play any better than Nabokov. If I were the Isles I'd pass.

Wizeman* 09-04-2013 04:26 PM

If he is willing to take 1.5mil I would sign him up. He is still a quality goaltender.

PADevil3034 09-04-2013 04:27 PM

A camp invite never hurt anybody. That's an even more low-risk route for the Isles.

TheOllieC 09-04-2013 04:32 PM

I would invite him to camp if I were them

startainfection 09-04-2013 04:35 PM

i'd be fine with a camp invite

he is a nut but i thought that him and nabby were friends

im pretty surprised he hasn't signed a 1 year deal anywhere. I know the goalie market is pretty saturated right now but he could be a great signing for a team like winnipeg...(minus the whole comment thing) pavs and bryz would be healthy competition. Calgary and edmonton could be fits too.

I felt this really made sense.

i don't see it, i think dubnyk is a very good goalie that deserves to start over 50 games, the oilers should try going with someone like thomas or hedberg, i don't see bryz as some one that should start less then about 35

Wasn't Bryz the guy who said he'd play in Russia before moving to Winnipeg (while he was still in PHX)?

I assume Calgary and Edmonton are no different for him.

EDIT: Ah, just saw that.

DennisReynolds 09-04-2013 05:03 PM

and why on earth would he sign a 1 year contract?

You think he has options?

LotteryForLife* 09-04-2013 06:31 PM

It's not a horrible thought but I think it's time to take the training wheels off the Poulin Wall and see if he's the real deal.

No thanks. Dubnyk gets the starts to see if he is the guy going forward. This is not our year anyhow, even if I am hopeful of at least a playoff race.

He has Russia but he even burnt bridges by being out of shape there during the lockout.

I think Dubnyk would be number one but having bryz there for competition could do both goalies good. You win and you keep playing.

He did win a Stanley Cup in Anaheim as a backup and was solid throughout his tenure behind Giguere.

And the fact he was completely terrible including being a healthy scratch half the time

SchennSational1022* 09-04-2013 08:02 PM

Besides the fact that all his teammates never like the guy and he causes a disrupt in the room everywhere he's been, he's really just not a good technical goalie. Wouldn't be a good pickup for the Isles

jayball75 09-04-2013 08:07 PM

He's a better option than Nabokov. If the isles want to win a playoff round this year it's not likely with Nabokov. Bryzgalov might be afraid of bears and like his earl grey tea but he can be better in the right situation

Sparksrus3 09-04-2013 10:07 PM

Bryzbokov!!! Thanks butch! It can't work ,way to many letters. But seriously I would pass only because I don't think( only a guess here) he would not be a good soldier playing only 25 or so games

Flyerss 09-04-2013 10:12 PM

if he wants to play for more than one year in the NHL he gonna need to sign with a team who got a very good D

Kevin27nyi 09-04-2013 10:16 PM

Ew no way.
