Tryout for Hamrlik?

This is pure speculation, but Hamrlik is skating with our vets in Brossard and he looks in shape and all...

How about a tryout for the old guy? No harm to it, it's a chance to see if he has anything left, and a chance for him to try to have another year.

overlords 09-06-2013 01:24 PM

I think he did this last year as well. Just likes it here, I think.

hototogisu 09-06-2013 01:30 PM

I seriously doubt he'll crack our top 7 on defense and I'm sure he'd rather play overseas than in Hamilton, so I don't really see the point of a try-out.

Dagistitsyn 09-06-2013 01:33 PM

Only if Spacek comes out of retirement too.

Blind Gardien 09-06-2013 01:33 PM

I guess a tryout never really hurts anything. I wouldn't have any real anticipation of signing him beyond that, pretty much regardless of how he plays, unless some ridiculous string of injuries fells multiple other D in our camp. :dunno:

domdo345 09-06-2013 01:33 PM

noooooo this guy is clearly too old to be useful in my eyes. The last year he was with us, it was awful. He cheated on so many ways because he was always out of gaz. Can't even imagine 2-3 years later how this could have anything good to offer. He couldn't crack NYR nor WASH line up, he won't cut it here.

He likes living in Montreal - we paid him a million more than anybody else would and he got to get fat and comfortable and amass delay of game penalties - what's a fat, lazy czech to do?

Rickkins 09-06-2013 02:02 PM

A tryout hurts nobody...

Shaby23 09-06-2013 02:09 PM

I always loved him and in my book he's way better than Drewiske. He's also a good veteran. I would invite him to the camp and see what he still can do to the team.

le_sean 09-06-2013 02:11 PM

Might as well put a Hamrlik jersey on a tortoise. It'll skate just as fast and shoot just as hard, but won't be as soft.

Monctonscout 09-06-2013 02:14 PM

I have no issue giving him a tryout, however guys like Whitney and Gilbert would be better options.

ArtPeur 09-06-2013 02:16 PM

No, no, no, no and no again. Please, no.

He didn't play much last year because he is too old and slow.

shutehinside 09-06-2013 02:16 PM

I don't see the use. Given what we have on D, Hamrlik isn't likely to crack our line up and with the extra cash we have, I'd rather have Morrow at camp than Hamrlk as he addresses a need we actually have.

Guess Therrien could pair him with Hammer

BLONG7 09-06-2013 02:22 PM

Can't see it...

donghabs98 09-06-2013 02:30 PM

Darn we should have kept Cole :naughty:

A tryout never hurts

Ohashi_Jouzu* 09-06-2013 02:42 PM

How about as an assistant coach who can fill in as 7th D, lol.

Lionel Mandrake 09-06-2013 02:45 PM

Maybe we could try to bring back to life the infamous Dandouillon pairing while we're at it.

Let's make our hockey version of The Expendables.

Hugo Sham 09-06-2013 02:49 PM

dude loves it in montreal. maintains a residence here and has always done his pre-camp skates at brossard. That being said, no thx

The last year with us he was out of gas because we used him as a #2, even #1 guy way too much! He was supposed to be a #4.

I doubt he would make the team but I would prefer him over Drewiske

DJ Breadman 09-06-2013 03:14 PM

Why do people want this guy back? He was done 2 years ago he didn't get any younger in those 2 years/ better off giving a guy like Dan Cleary a try out

habs03 09-06-2013 03:19 PM

We have 8dmen on 1 way deals, but with Emelin hurt, it seems like Tinordi is a lock to crack the top 6 this year, with Bouillon/ Murray and DD44 being the pressbox guys.

But if someone gets hurt, or Tinordi ***** the bed in camp, we'd have room to add someone, highly unlikely, but you never know, but Mtl carries 8 dmen so there is a small chance.

Also liked Hamrlik but he was BAD last year, specially with the Rangers.

Parts of this fanbase has a strange infatuation with retreads
Be they old, withered, gnarled, spent, broken, punch-drunk or mummified
Let's bring them back to see what they can do
LOL

Hamrlik and Dandenault are totally different players
