Good luck lol.

JeffMangum 09-08-2013 07:48 PM

Surprised he couldn't get a contract. Cap being lowered really ****ed over a lot of players.

Vankiller Whale 09-08-2013 07:49 PM

The Leafs have plenty of winger depth, I don't think Raymond would be a good fit compared to a team desperate for offense.

tc23 09-08-2013 07:50 PM

Don't get this move. Leafs are already pressed against the cap to sign their two RFAs. Why bring in yet another winger?

I think he'd be a good fit on the third line with Bolland & Kulimen

We've actually got a hole on our #3LW right now. He'll be competing with D'Amigo for that spot I would think

Tony Clifton Leaf 09-08-2013 07:51 PM

JVR-Bozak-Kessel
Lupul-Kadri-Clarkson
Raymond-Bolland-Kulemin
D'amigo-McClement-Orr
Mclaren

I like it, but we don't really have room to sign anyone other than Kadri and Franson (if we can even do that) without a trade. He would add a nice speed element that could be great with Kulie and Bolland though.

Hero 09-08-2013 07:53 PM

A bit surprised.

Thought we would look for someone a bit more defensive minded. But I like his speed on the forecheck.

Quares27 09-08-2013 07:53 PM

Leafs actually have a hole on the 3rd line at LW so he could fit if they manage to get cap space

Agreed. He has his faults but he's still an effective third line tweener.

bruinsfan46 09-08-2013 07:54 PM

Surprising to me he would choose Toronto, just not sure of the money available with Franson and Kadri. Good addition if they can get them all signed.

Raymond's very good defensively. Very good back checker with his speed and is rarely ever out of position.

OriginJM 09-08-2013 07:55 PM

once raymond loses that footspeed he instantly becomes irrelevant

Xav 09-08-2013 07:55 PM

He'd actually fit on the 3rd line, just don't expect him to be in your top 6

He's still got it though?

Ricky Bobby 09-08-2013 07:56 PM

Solid move by the Leafs. They've got nothing to lose with it only being a try-out.

He'd be added into the mix with Colborne, Smith and D'Amigo for the last few forward spots. Raymond as extra depth would be a good thing.

Raymond is quite good defensively. He is quite tenacious and has excellent speed. He isn't physical but he we back check and forecheck hard, he's an ideal 3rd line speedster.

Never ever a bad thing to have competition in camp. This guy is easily NHL caliber and getting him on a tryout, even if they don't sign him, is fantastic for the competition.

Honestly, really smart management move even if they don't sign him.

If the Rangers already didn't have to many bottom 6 guys signed i'd be *****ing and moaning had they let this slip.

The cap is also an issue.

HFboards is apparently more worried about the Leafs salary cap situation than the Leafs are
