John Mitchell on the trading block or demanded a trade?

Considering we picked up GaŽl Clichy to Colorado Adrian Dater just posted some tweets saying that Mitchell isn't happy with his ice time and *might've* asked for a trade.

What do you blokes think Avs could get for Mitchell?

A bottom 3 defenseman?
A draft pick?
Or something in a package for an upgrade?

Depends on who you talk to, but IMO Mitchell isn't that useless of a player and is a solid a bottom 2 line centre.

Nick Schultz for Mitchell.

Win win

Analyzer* 09-22-2013 01:10 PM

A 6th rounder maybe. Would be surprised if he got more.

Freudian 09-22-2013 01:12 PM

I would think a third rounder should be realistic, considering the guy had 10 goals and 10 assists in 47 games last year.

GordieHoweHatTrick 09-22-2013 01:12 PM

Does he think he deserves a top-9 role? Mitchell is alright when he's not trying to do everything himself offensively

Considering ROB got a 4th and Mitchell is a superior player in every regard I think 3rd isn't out of a question. Though I also think he would be unlikely as well.

Future Considerations

With Gagner out for a while, MacT should be all over this. (an actual NHL center)

if he asked for the trade i don't him having deadline value, maybe a 5th.

if they want a solution quickly.

smitty10 09-22-2013 01:16 PM

John Mitchell? He's worth maybe a 6th rounder. Terrible, terrible NHL player.

FrozenJagrt 09-22-2013 01:41 PM

To pick a team like, say, Florida... you'd be looking at a package of Huberdeau/Barkov, Kulikov/Gudbranson, Markstrom and a first.

Wait, wrong Malkin.

JoemAvs 09-22-2013 01:45 PM

He might be worth a 4th with his performance from last year.

I still would trade him in an instant for a 7th.

I am not sure which team could really use a tweener like Johnny Malkin...

Quares27 09-22-2013 01:59 PM

Somebody watched soccer this morning lol

BHD 09-22-2013 02:11 PM

Maybe Mitchell should improve at playing hockey. I heard that can lead to more ice time.

McDonagh 09-22-2013 02:14 PM

He was a good Ranger but I don't think they have the room to take him with Moore signing and Lindberg knocking on the door.

That was a deadline move though.

How can this guy complain about anything.

Nice one

He would be good on the Nucks 3/4th lines.

Can play 4C if needed and he can add skill to the grinders in the bottom 6 (looking at you Weise).

This. I'm amazed he's still in the league.

Take him, I'm sure Torts would love to use him on your PP like he did in NY, then Canucks fans can join the contingent of Leafs, Rangers and Avs fans that cringe when they see Mitchell out on the ice.

I think he's a serviceable 4th line player. There's definitely a place for him in the league.

I actually think he has quite a bit of talent for a bottom line player and i liked him on the Rangers.

The worst part about him is he hangs onto the puck WAY to long sometimes and tries to dangle.

I'm going to go out on a hunch and say he learned his nickname on here was Johnny Malkin and due to that he is now demanding more ice time.

I mean, guys named Malkin should be getting 20+ mins a game.

He definitely hasn't. This is just Adrian Dater speculating. For those of you who don't know, he is pretty much as reliable as Eklund when it comes to Avs rumours.
