NEWS & NOTES

QUOTES TO NOTE

Iím just going to try to take it one game at a time. Try my best.
I know that last year I had another level in my game that I wanted to show, and maybe I showed it, but now itís a new season. Itís only one preseason game.
I was just coming in tonight to get my timing right. I just want to get myself ready for Phoenix, for that first regular season game.
- Derick Brassard

It was good to be back in a game just to feel the games, the screens, they had a little power play time so that felt good.
Itís a progression youíve got to take. Games are part of it, practices are part of it, the way you conduct yourself, the way you prepare for these games are part of it.
Ultimately, my job when Iím put in games in the regular season is to respond.
- Martin Biron

In my estimation, itís very good to have a shutdown pair, a pair of defensemen who can play against the other teamís top offensive players.
I also like to have a pair of defensemen to play with my top forwards, two guys who can move the puck and play with the top offensive players. Itís a combination of different things.
If you look at what is considered our top six D, Iíve played Del Zotto with Staal, Iíve played Girardi with McDonagh and Iíve played Moore with Stralman.
Thatís worked out well for us. Thatís exactly how we practiced and weíll continue in that fashion for a little bit.
- Alain Vigneault

No, hes UFA.

No idea why he's been on every GDT this pre-season.

Eh, why not? Tribute for the season. Not like anyone else is signing him.

Anyway, I am liking the idea of a Swedish Hrivik line. lgr.

wolfgaze 09-23-2013 06:05 AM

I hope this game is more entertaining than the previous 2.

ColonialsHockey10 09-23-2013 06:29 AM

Lmao only the Rangers would play 2 games in the preseason and play a team that's had 5.

silverfish 09-23-2013 06:57 AM

I want to see more out of Kreider-Ricards-Nash tonight

I enjoyed the Philly game, the Rangers played very well IMO. The Pouliot-Brassard-Zuccarello line was a ton of fun.

McIlrath's hipcheck was also very entertaining, but not in a good way.

Silence Of The Plams 09-23-2013 07:49 AM

Lets go boys. Dominate the game dominate the win. Wanna see some good stuff from Nasher and Kreider. Look forward to brass being brass and Zucc showing us something. Also would appreciate McI being impressive.

Noose18 09-23-2013 09:40 AM

Did anyone notice that was Nash wearing an "A" in the first preseason game aswell? Richards seems to have lost his one?

No, 3 players wore A's in each game
Devils: Richards, Nash, Staal
Flyers: Girardi, McDonagh, Pyatt (LOL)

Zucc should've had the A over Pyatt! :D

KreiMeARiver 09-23-2013 09:58 AM

That Nash Kreider Richards line looked pretty bad. Hope to see some improvements, there.

I guess I missed that memo. He's still listed on the NYR injured list on TSN. Edit: Or was earlier.

Poor Mike. :(

Poor Mike. :(

Yeah, we didn't qualify him this summer. He's UFA at this point. :(

Silence Of The Plams 09-23-2013 10:40 AM

Sucks about him but have to move on. We are fortunate to see our defensemen in place play well.

Yeah that's a bad defensive line. Zero chemistry with Richards and Nash.

Need Stepan to sign that contract ASAP.
