Guess when the CBA will be over.

Heres your turn to take an educated guess or just come out of left field and make a prediction when the new CBA will be signed.

My guess: Wednesday July 13th/ Press Conferenceheld at 12:00 pm in the afternoon.

Recent papers are suggesting that it could take a week to 10 days after a deal is agreed in principle until the NHLPA and the player meet and have and complete the voting process to ratifiy the new CBA .. Until the majority vote is complete and the answer is YES to accept no deal is done .

So I would guess you need to add 10 days mimimum to be safe from the time of acceptance in principle which might come next week.

Quote:

Once a tentative deal is announced, both sides still need to ratify the deal. A board of governors' meeting will be called where all 30 owners will need to approve the deal. A vote of the 700-plus NHLPA membership will also be needed. All of which may take more than a week before the deal is officially ratified.

Ratification of this agreement is by no means a slam-dunk and is believed seven-10 days will be required to complete the process, which would zero in on mid-month as the beginning of a mammoth re-launch.

I hope so too, but I have no faith in any of these idiots! Cancelling a wholse season and they still haven't made a deal. Either extremely dumb or extremely gready with no caring about the fans.

GBG BLEED BLUE 07-11-2005 12:57 AM

Ya

I hope really soon because they all seem to be making progress, but even though the players say that the deal is bad for them for some strange reason. As we all wait for them to get a deal done and finalized so hockey can be back already,For my hockey fix I went to alot of Saskatoon Blades home games and playoffs until they were cut short by a quick First round defeat at the hands of the PA Raiders :madfire:  But next season will be much better. :yo: :)

Mat 07-11-2005 02:09 AM

goodnow's no dummy
he's trying to help the players out on the deal and make the right parts right for them
if he wasnt, thsi deal would be done already
why else would it be going on so long if the NHLPA allegedly "caved" on every facet?

ULF_55 07-11-2005 10:45 AM

July 14th. CBA released
July 16th. Owners ratify
July 18th. Players vote
July 19th. Buy-outs allowed
July 20th. Lottery for draft held
July 21st. 2 week window to sign 2003 picks
July 21st. 2 week window to sign RFA
Aug 6th. entry draft

Goodenow is trying to save face, because he got beat worse than he ever got from his parents, or in grade school.

The deal is not done yet and until its final and voted in Goodenow is still a part of the picture ..

Goodenow has not been attending all these meetings and while its very very remote that this gets de-railed , its still exists as a possibilty ..

Decertification of a union is always an option and so ..lets not count our chickens before they are hatched just yet ..

The latest on TSN is that there are still issues that have not be agreed to, and the suggestion is it is more than fine tuning.
