No surprise from this Devils fan.

Devilsfan118 09-24-2013 01:30 PM

Wonder what the cap hit will be.

Nazemlupul 09-24-2013 01:30 PM

Huge risk depending on the caphit. Don't know why they didn't just offer him a 1 year.

Fraser Read 09-24-2013 01:31 PM

The moment that Kovalchuk left this signing became obvious

Officer Rod Farva 09-24-2013 01:32 PM

I wanna say the cap hit will be 2-2.5

mighty all the way 09-24-2013 01:33 PM

I bet cap hit will be 2.75 per year 3 years.

Flowah 09-24-2013 01:33 PM

Wish the Wings had resigned this kid and let some guys go instead of Cleary.

Have fun with him NJ!

Freudian 09-24-2013 01:35 PM

Lamoriello signing a lot of non-Devils type players these days but I guess there is a slight desperation to not underperform this season, with giving up the first rounder.

MJMazzarone 09-24-2013 01:36 PM

I'm guessing 2 years 4 mil. 2 per year.

Is Damien going to get the # 6 ?

A lot of people have been down on the Devils. If everything goes how I hope it does, the opening night lineup is:

Henrique-Zajac-Ryder
Elias-Loktionov-Jagr
Clowe-Zubrus-Brunner
Olesz-Josefson-Bernier

Greene-Larsson
Salvador-Zidlicky
Gelinas-Fayne

Schneider
Brodeur

That's a solid club.

MJMazzarone 09-24-2013 01:40 PM

Henrique-Zajac-Ryder
Elias-Loktionov-Jagr
Clowe-Zubrus-Brunner
The fourth line will be a hodgepodge and be a mix all season with three of the following players: Olesz-Carter-Gionta-Josefson-Bernier

Regardless that's a pretty solid lineup. Tons of depth. And the two things that goes far in a season? Depth and defense. Devils have the same defense (minus Tallinder) that got them to the Stanley Cup Finals two years ago (not to mention a set of talented young kids ready to prove themselves) and have a very deep set of forwards.

I think this team is going to surprise a lot of people.

njdevil26 09-24-2013 01:42 PM

Next is getting someone to take Volchenkov... and making Barch disappear.

TOML 09-24-2013 01:43 PM

'Bout time. How long has this rumour been brewing?

Have to agree. That is a pretty solid lineup. A bit thin on D, but nothing the depth in net can't cover up.

Has to be one of the slowest if not the slowest team in the entire league though. Brunner should help a lot there he is instantly probably the best skating forward.

TaiMaiShu 09-24-2013 01:45 PM

For a team that relied too much on Kovy, scoring has been addressed. We still will be bottom third in scoring this year, no doubt. But allowing the fewest shots in the league last year now with Schneiderman? We will compete every night.

eh, speed in the league is overrated. the Kings are not a fast team and they won a Cup a year ago.

This team has a lot of natural skill.

DevilChuk* 09-24-2013 01:49 PM

Brunner looked really good in the pre-season and had a decent amount of chemistry with Elias. I could see them playing together which will help Brunner's numbers (and Elias will cover for him defensively).

Multi-year is odd though considering there wasn't a ton of demand for him. Hoping that we threw him 2 years in exchange for a lower cap hit since we do need a lower cap hit as we are up against the cap right now. We have bonus money we can move to next year, if necessary.

Zirakzigil 09-24-2013 01:50 PM

Surprised it took this long to get done.
