Why wouldnt it be safe. The arena has hosted a Bieber concert, eurovision, football etc without problem. Its alot of free Space outside, so its easy to enter and exit the arena.

U just need to make some adjustments like Barcleys center.

What Bieber concerts have anything to do with digging the hole in the middle of a football stadium? Do you understand that you'd need to dig enough room for locker rooms and utility space as well? They should be on the ice level and there is not enough room for that, do you know what piling is and that it's not safe to dig under an existing structures? And it's like common sense not to.

Barclays Center is a multipurpose arena worth $1 bln, Telenor arena is a cheep hangar-like football stadium. It was never meant for hockey.

Stop this nonsense. It will be easier and cheaper to build a new arena.

Not 60% of the seats. This was just an example. The owner of the arena says that it can be used for hockey and handball. He gotta know what he is talking about.

Telenor arena cost about 110 mill usd, while ska iceplace cost 60 mill usd. So its not cheap compared to other KHL arenas.

And where do u want to build this new arena? It has to be close to the metro, it has to be enough space around the arena and u need an owner that is willing to take the risk.

Telenor arena is the best option.

Im afraid that ult is right.A football field size is 110x75,a hockey rink size 60x30,how to fix it?Horseshow is like hockey size and you have 5000 arena or less.

Yes it can be used for hockey. For 1 or 2 games. With bleachers like this.

Do you seriously expect KHL to allow them to play the whole season like that? Oh, and viewers would love to watch the puck from 100 meters away.

Whatever, forget it. I feel like I'm talking to a kid.

Well Schalke 04s home arena is alot larger than Telenor Arena. U cant compare those two arenas.

What is the size of a football field in Norway?

U can play hockey at baseball arenas, american football arenas etc and those arenas are alot bigger than Telenor arena. It should be possible to make a few adjustments and install an icerink. U can dig and remove all seats. Then u install the icerink, the scoreboard and install New seats that fits the arena. Will it cost Money? yes. But the thing is that it would cost ALOT of money to build a new arena.

Nr 1 Oslo is one of the most expensive cities in Europe.
Nr 2 Oslo is the most bureaucratic city in the world
Nr 3 Hockey is popular, but football is more popular, so its a risky project
Nr 4 The arena need to be close to public transport (metro, train, bus, tramway)

Will it be Perfect? We dnt know before they have had a serious look at it.

I believe thats why Mr Antanasansasa came to Norway in the first place. The KHL want to check out Telenor Arena, so this is not something im making up.

U didnt get the point. In Schalkes arena u can hardly see the players from the upper tiers, because the arena is more than twice as big. Even the scoreboard looks completly out of Place. Telenor Arena is an indoor arena and most indoor arenas fit hockey, basketball and handball With some adjustments.

robwangjing 09-28-2013 09:40 AM

If only the owners of Spektrum Arena could be convinced to let them play there I think it would be the best option.

Located next to the central station in the heart of Oslo. Can't get a much better location than that, if not you build an arena inside the metro. :sarcasm:

You do realize that game was just a one time thing?

Also, isn't the women's handball national team the most popular team in Norway? Most successful a least.

I know it was used in whc 2010 in a game between Germany and the US

The national football team is the most popular.

Hockey is the most popular indoor sport. Thats a fact.

Great idea. And the new club can be owned by the PST (Security service). Dynamo moscow vs Dynamo PST. We could call this derby "the New KGB firm"

Define popular. Attendance, tv ratings, media/sponsor interest?

Media got an anti hockey agenda, so who cares about those commies.

The Norwegian get liga got higher attendance than postenligaen (handball). Thats how u define popularity.

There are also a few rich club owners in Norwegian hockey. Like the owners of stavanger oiler who are supplying the oil industry With parts. And u got the owner of Lørenskog IK who are some rich dude. Several teams in Norway dosent like Lørenskog, because they cant compete With them Financialy.

If you have an Ice Hockey Arena it will be easy to play another sports, but not vice-versa.

Arena size tends to show in that as indoor arenas hold less than hockey arenas.

Not in Norway. Drammenshallen and Arena Larvik (handball) are not smaller than the average hockey arena. In Finland on the other hand its prob different ;)

I dunno. Both yes and no. No because it will be bad for the swedish league and most norwegian fans love the SHL. Yes because a KHL club cant be ignored by the norwegian media :)

Hard to answer Your question. The sport of hockey dosent get much attention, but Zuccarello does. Several articles about him every week :) and thats good for Norwegian hockey. The NHL is more popular than the SHL. That said the SHL is popular in Norway. Many Norwegian travel from Norway to Karlstad to watch Færjestad play. Team captain Tollefsen stated that his favorite team while growing up was Færjestad.
