James Reimer to Edmonton

What would it take to get this deal done? Would a 2nd rounder work? Don't think Dubnyk is suitable for the job alone.

Warden of the North 10-02-2013 09:24 AM

Trade our starter for a second?

No. Not going to get it done.

Punch Drunk Loov 10-02-2013 09:25 AM

Would definitely not trade our #1 Goalie at the moment for a 2nd rounder

alpine4life 10-02-2013 09:28 AM

I think theres value for a low 1st in Reimer... but the Leafs wont trade their no.1 GL at the beginning of the season, w/o knowing what Bernier is capable of doing as a no.1 starter...

I see your 2nd rounder and I counter with a 1st for T.Hall, fair enough

Commander Clueless 10-02-2013 09:29 AM

I honestly doubt the Leafs will be trading a goalie until AT LEAST the deadline. One will only be traded if the other takes over the starting job convincingly I would think.

Trading Optimus now doesn't make sense for Toronto.

GordieHoweHatTrick 10-02-2013 09:30 AM

Yep, Dubnyk looked awful last night.

Ask about Reimer again at the end of the season

ManofSteel55 10-02-2013 09:31 AM

I'd like to get Reimer, but they brought in Bernier so the Leafs could run with two goalies, until one proves they are better. So until that happens, I don't see either being an answer.

Chandrashekhar Limit 10-02-2013 09:34 AM

I don't see any of our goalies being available until the 2014 off season at the earliest.

oilersfan11 10-02-2013 09:35 AM

The Goaltender that the Oilers need to target is Jaroslav Halak.

dubplatepressure 10-02-2013 09:35 AM

GTFO.... a 2nd - right. What a joke.

Come on, Reimer's value has been discussed before. Schneider fetched a top 10, a low 1st or high second is reasonable For Reimer.

I don't think it's time for Edmonton to start scrambling or TO wanting to go with a clear number one. That aside I think the Oilers 2nd and a conditional 3rd would be fair.

I guess I should say if the Oilers had a second this coming year.

I'm really glad you're not the Leafs GM.

This. One, it will take at least the season to determine whos actually better (despite popular belief, James Reimer can stop pucks). Two, we dont have a capable goalie to step in as backup. Nonis would be run out of town if he moved one of the two and the other got injured a week later.

jmart21 10-02-2013 09:50 AM

haha a 2nd.

no.

Ashasx 10-02-2013 09:51 AM

The Oilers probably should have been in on Bernier instead of trading assets for another forward in Perron.

It's expected to be a mid-second and the last thread judging his value seemed to be that of a late first. I don't think 15 spots in the draft (30-45th) is really that big of a difference to call a "Joke".

People on here hear a FIRST and think its worth so much more than a SECOND even though they can be 1 pick away from each other lol.

Reimer is worth a mid/late 1st and a throw in (Scrivens type)

It's one game. I doubt the best goalie in the NHL has a 3.00GAA at the end of the year..

Phion Keneuf 10-02-2013 09:52 AM

Not trading our top goalie

SupremeTeam16 10-02-2013 09:54 AM

Toronto is not going to move Reimer until at least the deadline. Goalies the Oilers could target, Halak from STL or Hiller from ANA. But they probably wouldn't move him within the division. Craig Anderson might become available if Lehner steps up in Ottawa this year.

TheHudlinator 10-02-2013 09:55 AM

Why would they trade their starter and only for a 2nd?

Or Ryan Miller.

TheLeastOfTheBunch 10-02-2013 10:02 AM

2nd is pretty awful value to the Leafs right now. Don't think the Leafs will consider trading Reimer this season..wait out and see who's best fit for the starting role between James and Bernier.

Poochie the Dog 10-02-2013 10:09 AM

MacT should have offered Dubnyk and that 2nd for Bernier when he had a chance.

Ace88* 10-02-2013 10:11 AM

A measly 2nd is just awful.

Reimer + Gardiner for Yakupov or no deal. we need Reimer.

Schneider fetch that, because everyone know that Gillis was under the gun to trade one of them (or buyout Luongo). Other than the year Reimer was hurt (concussion), he's put up very good numbers. His only downfall has been that he hasn't had the chance to start more than 40 games in a season. All Reimer needs this season is to be healthy and the chance to show what he can do over a full season. If he does, his value goes up.

There's absolutely no chance that Toronto trades Reimer for a 2nd and a 3rd. There's no chance they trade him for a 1st anytime soon either - although that's a lot closer to his value than a 2nd and 3rd.
