Your views on Dallas Eakins so far

So what do you guys think of Dallas Eakin's coaching so far? I know its still early in the season, but there are some definite coaching strategies that Eakins implements that is different from our past coaches. In particular, what do you guys think of his constant line juggling, giving our top players major ice time, pulling the goalie early when we're down by 2, and all his postgame analysis so far?

CornKicker 10-11-2013 03:46 PM

i thought he was a bit thicker to be honest. When they show him on the bench his neck looks skinnier than i thought it would be. prehaps he should ease off the cardio and hit the weights a bit? hard to say as he is getting a bit older so muscle mass declines. His choice in suits hasnt been too bad. a little bulky for his frame in the shoulders but no out of style color wise. His hair needs a trim though, i can tell his side part is getting in his eyes when he plays ryan smyth at any point in the game.

Agree.

Since the sample size for his actual coaching performance is way too small to make an accurate assessment, I'll say this will probably be the most informative post you're going to find in this thread.

His tie choices have been Top-5 in the NHL for sure though.

I like the fact he doesn't smile. Coaches should never smile. Ones that do are usually useless and can't be trusted.

I like his intensity in this photograph.

Aerchon 10-11-2013 03:52 PM

I like him.

Like his decisions so far.

Doesn't seem like an amature like Renny and Kruger did. So far no too many men on this penalties. No shoot-out bizarness.

Prefer his attitude in general over the other coaches.

I don't mind him pulling the goalie early when we are down by 2. But I hope he doesn't do it so early in a one goal game.

Is that Michael Cera sitting behind him?

the sums up my post perfectly,

skinny neck, slimmer than thought, good choice in suits, good color, bad hair in his eyes.

there is no advanced stat for this, sorry boys

I love that three of his best players are all top 5 in ice time in the entire NHL. Jason Gregor was taking earlier today about how we essentially have 7 top 6 forwards with the amount of time those forward have been given.

If we are going to lose, we are going to lose with our best players.

Perfect_Drug 10-11-2013 03:58 PM

I liked how he gave the media veggies.

Those Prima Donna's had the nerve to complain about it.

:/

I'd love it if my job gave me veggies.

T-Funk 10-11-2013 04:01 PM

For brief stints, he gets our players to play at a much higher intensity level than we've seen from our team in years.

He does apparently hold players accountable. Even Ryan Smyth, although not as much as we hoped.

His PP could use a lot of work. (that's what she said)

Actual results suck for the moment...I guess we'll see on that one.

This team cannot fire another coach no matter what the end result anyways.

Perfect_Drug 10-11-2013 04:02 PM

I'd personally love to see Kevin Lowe coach again.

Damn it, I was going to say that.

McSaviour 10-11-2013 04:09 PM

He should skype Krueger and influence him in to giving him his PP notes.

backhandsauce 10-11-2013 04:12 PM

he needs a hair cut.

joestevens29 10-11-2013 04:12 PM

I'm not really concerned about the PP to be honest. We had these issues last year as well. With the skill we have it will come regardless of who is coaching that PP. Eventually some of these one shot shooters will score. That and it is 25%, so it's not like it hasn't worked this year.

but dat flow he has!

RisingSun 10-11-2013 04:20 PM

I think he needs to trim some minutes off the kids, it isn't going to last.

elmeroil 10-11-2013 04:21 PM

So far him and Mac T have talked the talk just like the previous coaches and GM. I'm ready for these guys to deliver.......

I think it's going to take time for the team to adjust to new systems, so it's still way too early to judge Eakins. I like the 28 minutes he gave RNH on Monday though.

SWARM 10-11-2013 04:30 PM

Aside from the train wreck in Vancouver the Oilers have been getting better every game, which is a sign they are buying in. Hall, Eberle, and Hopkins should be able to play the amount of minutes their getting, they are in the "the best shape of their life" stage. Our problem last night wasn't our stars being tired it was secondary scoring. Subban kept our top line to the outside and Hemsky and Perron were rarely dangerous. I actually liked Arcobello, good on the draw hard working and tried to make the simple play. Hemsky and Perron were dancing and I seen it work out maybe twice, every other time they could hardly break the zone. Yakupov was a joke and will continue to be one until he realizes he cant go through 3 opposing players he;s not Alex Galchenyuk...

That may have been a condition of hiring.:naughty:

Petro Points 10-11-2013 04:35 PM

He would get perfect score from if he admitted that this team played like **** in 2 periods vs NJ and most of the night vs MTL.

His comments are giving the team members the green light to suck.

Hopefully its just an act for the media so they get off individual player's case..
