Zack Kassian - 2013/2014 Season Expectations

Tonight Kassian makes his regular season debut. What are your expectations of how he does this season? Is this the year he breaks out? Does he ever?

Here's a video I made of his time with the Wolves. I posted it on here once and it got deleted immediately because of all the profanity. I edited those out, so it shoooould be good to post now. What's interesting to me now, is he just destroys a Ice Hog around the 1:38 mark. Turns out it's Ryan Stanton.

Here's less of a hype reel, more of a recap of his last season. If you go to the actual Youtube page, it has a table of contents that link you to individual plays. It has every goal, assist, and fight from the season.

77 games played 46 goals 57 assists 103 points 183 PIM

i expect. 12 goals, 11 assist, 23 points and i honestly wouldn't care as long as he figures out how to play without the puck, and be someone useful, somewhere. I kinda hope he goes through the Kesler path, where he just figures it out defensively, and everything else will fall in place.

Regardless, he'll probably be suspended another 2-3 times by seasons end. After the Edler incident, I'm sure many people are confused whether whats legal and whats not. Gillis has spend the past couple years changing his team to be more physical, but the league tries to take down the physicality. Someone go tell Gillis, to change his philosophy yet again.

Quite honestly, this is the year in which I pretty much expect him to make that jump and break out as a top 6 forward. I'd like to see a 50 point season from him.

canuck4life16 10-12-2013 01:58 PM

20 goals 28 assist 48 points

Eddy Punch Clock 10-12-2013 02:02 PM

15 goals.

2 more suspensions.

Zombotron 10-12-2013 02:05 PM

Somewhere between 16 and 23G and 14 to 21A for...37P?

It's hard to imagine much middle ground for Kassian this season with Torts running the bench. Either he's going to put forth the kind of effort required for ice-time and his talent will show through or he's going to spend most of the season in the dog house where his talent won't matter.

I can't see Kassian playing full-time minutes in the top 6 or cracking the #1 PP. That makes something like 15 goals and 15 assists a solid season for the kid and a big step in the right direction.

WonderTwinsUnite 10-12-2013 02:34 PM

40+ would be awesome

ihaveyuidonttouchme 10-12-2013 02:42 PM

5 goals 0 assist 1 pim

anything more than that, i'll be very happy :sarcasm:

kidding aside, 10+20 or something in that nature....not expecting much for now..

PassLikeA10YrOldBoy 10-12-2013 02:44 PM

I won't predict points but I expect more tenacity, and less hesitation. Just play a more mature game and the points will come.

Tim Calhoun 10-12-2013 02:47 PM

25-30 point pace probably. Will have a couple of hot streaks and also some stretches where he's completely invisible.

StringerBell 10-12-2013 02:51 PM

Tweener stats, 30 points in 70 games maybe

fuzzay 10-12-2013 02:56 PM

35 - 40 pts

Still a young kid, the points will come.

Didn't know we had such low expectations of him :shakehead:help:

77 Games Played 67 goals 63 assists.

Diamonddog01 10-12-2013 03:03 PM

19 points. Demoted and called up twice this year.

Nuckles 10-12-2013 03:04 PM

30 goals, 40 assists, 120 points.

That's next year for me.

This year I'd be okay with 15 goals/15 assists.

Virtanen2Horvat 10-12-2013 03:14 PM

I say he gets 22G 19A. I hope he can be a effective second liner. I see this being next years lineup.

Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Higgins-Kesler-Hansen
Shinkaruk-Horvat-Kassian
Booth-Santorelli-Richardson

Hopefully that third line can get promoted with Kassian on it.

He will probably in my opinion actually get 17 goals and 29 assists. I hope he gets higher though I want to see him bring big force.

F A N 10-12-2013 03:19 PM

16+ goals 30+ assists.

BassMason 10-12-2013 03:22 PM

I just want him to finish better than Hertl.

That would be nice. What line was it that Kassian played well on?

I think your games played looks high, other than that I would say bang on.

Seriously 20-20 ish, but I expect this biggest thing is to start creating space for the twins. I think his effectiveness will be different than say a Burrows, but needed. Will be nice to have at least three options to play with them.

If your referring to taking penalties, he has to be absolutely clean for there not to be any calls on him which is impossible for his role on this team. He's suppose to be a tough hitting/forecheck player and keep opponent players in check in case they want a run at our guys, not just a point producer and you bet the refs has their eyes out on that especially since he's a Canuck.
